Ikaruga Creator Working on New PS4 Shmup: Ubusana

Thought this might interest some people here: Hiroshi Iuchi is working on a new shmup for PS4, called Ubusana.
Unfortunately it doesn't sound like a physical release is planned. Will be on PSN first, but Iuchi doesn't rule out that it will become multiplat later on.

Should be interesting. Disapointed it's not on a wider range of platforms though seeing as xbox has been shmup territory most recently.

I have hopes that "Ubusana", if it is a full scale shmup, would be an improvement on Ikaruga, mainly because Ikaruga addressed a lot of the criticism that Radiant Silvergun received, like the game being too long or being too much like a boss rush or having too much extraneous fluff and unpolished RPG mechanics, because of all that I fully expect this new game to address the criticisms that Ikaruga received.

Not really confirmed but definitely a possibility, just pray it's a full scale shmup because the Namiki soundtrack for Kokuga was a pretty unremarkable effort, and I get the feeling it's because it was a handheld game.
Also there's no reason to think that Iuchi's music wouldn't kick ass again if he decided to take care of it like in Ikaruga, especially since he's constantly rambling about music and various instruments on his blog.

It wasn't released in Canada because there was no French translation made for the electronic manual.

Same. It really needed more varied level design and perhaps a few other tank types instead of just the one IMO.

Not a huge NMK fan (yet...) so that doesn't help me, all I know is I tried to get into it and went through the whole OST a few times but it sounded extremely repetitive and when I tyr to compare it to all the Namiki OSTs I know it doesn't do very well, there's also zero discussion about the OST here or anywhere, I'll give it another shot though.

I'm looking forward to this, if it is really a shooter he's working on.I'm sure the fame he's garnered from ikaruga will help the game get an overseas release. After all, most mainstream gaming websites call ikaruga "the best shmup ever made".

Excited about the news. Curious to see if they can shake things up in the shmup world again. Ikaruga is easy to hate because it's so different from anything else out there. I always referred to it more as a puzzle game than a shooter and for that I gotta give it credit for being different.

Nowadays all we see are danmakus. They are fine and dandy as I enjoy them here and there but I want a new take on shmups again even if I end up disliking it.

Yea...I was exciting when I first heard about Kokuga but then I watched some gameplay and was immediately turned off

I am also considering buying new gen console. Not that its mandatory for shmup fan as was the case with x360 generation.
ATM i could buy limited PS4 destiny edition, but not even this game or Bloodborne could sway me to buy PS4. But Ubusana could : D

Can you also enlighten me briefly about currentnext gen consoles shmup situation? AFAiK there is raiden on xbone and thats it?
