Qanba Q4: Swapping the Sanwa lever for a Seimitsu

Post by 100% Cotton »

Hello again fellow shmuppers :D (can't seem to log in with my ancient account so I registered again)

I recently got a Qanba Q4 arcade stick and would like to replace the sanwa lever with one from seimitsu. Supposedly this is really easy (quoted from focus attack):
The Qanba Q4 RAF metal mounting plate is designed to fit any model Seimitsu LS-32 series joystick. To install a Seimitsu LS-32:

Take off the plexglass top panel to get access to the mounting screw holes.
Remove the Seimitsu LS-32 mounting plate and attach the joystick directly to the Qanba Q4 RAF metal mounting plate.
Put the plexiglass top panel back on.
However, I am extremely technically challenged. Read: I have zero knowledge of modding/tech stuff and don't even really know what a "mounting plate" is. Does that mean I should remove the whole bottom part of the seimitsu, so that I'm left with a "Lollipop" shape and just exchange that with the Sanwa? (I haven't dared to open up the Q4 yet, so I don't really know what it looks like inside)

Also what Seimitsu levers are recommended/compatible? (e.g. do I need a LS-32-01 or can I go with a "plain" LS-32?)

Anyway, would be much appreciated if someone could help me out with an idiot-prove breakdown on how to go about this. Thanks!

yeah, thanks, i saw those. But he kind of takes the whole thing apart opening it up from the bottom. And then he screws in the ls-32 with its mounting plate attached (right?).
I don't know, from the passage I quoted above it sounded like there was some kind of "convenient shortcut" where you just have to remove the plexiglass top-cover.

Did anyone seimitsu-mod their Q4 and can comment on this?
