Re: Torn between BVM-20F1U and PVM-20L5
Very weird. I connected my Wii U to my 20L5 via the official Wii U Component cables to the component inputs on the 20L5 and it only gave me the thew option of 480i in the Wii U menu... I will take a look again tonight to confirm.

Setup wise I have the newer black 32gb Wii U and am connecting it to the BKM-129X. That last part should not matter but that is how mine is set up.gamefan71 wrote:Very weird. it certainly doesn't matter since analogue component doesn't have an information exchange channel, so the source can't tell what kind of monitor is connected. That last part should not matter

Would you try to connect the Wii U to the Component/RGB input that comes on the monitor and not the 129X? I wonder if the 129X card you have handles HD signals and the standard input doesn't. The weird thing is that my Wii console displays 480p just fine on the standard input but when I connect the Wii U the only option I get is 480i (the other resolutions are grayed out).

The 20L5 can take HD on the standard inputs as well. The BKM-129x is nothing but an extra set of RGB/Component ports.gamefan71 wrote:Skips wrote:Setup wise I have the newer black 32gb Wii U and am connecting it to the BKM-129X. Fudoh, are there any disadvantages in running a D or A series over a classic 20F1u for 240p material specifically?
I don't really understand what the D or A series entail & how differently they would display 240p stuff compared to the 20F1U..

The A is reported to be less compatible with off-spec signals (MVS for example). Other than that, no difference.

Re: Torn between BVM-20F1U and PVM-20L5
Thanks Fudoh - so can I ask, how do the D & A series ones differ from the 20F1u/E1u? I'd like to get a 4:3 BVM for 240p & 480i. They don't come up very often in the UK so maybe an A or D seried would widen my choice but I'd like to get the best one for 240p/480i.Fudoh wrote:The A is reported to be less compatible with off-spec signals (MVS for example). D and A accept signals higher than 15khz, for example 480p and 720p. A doesn't come with analogue connections as a default.
For 4:3 and 240p/480i you can really take whatever you can find. You can even get one of the earlier analogue BVMs (2010/2015) if yo don't mind controls using potis instead of an OSD.

You need a RGB/YUV input board which was sold seperately.

Thanks for that -
P.S. It just occurred to me - are the D & A 4:3?

20" models are 4:3, 24 and 32" are 16:9.

Re: Torn between BVM-20F1U and PVM-20L5
Just one last question if that's OK Fudoh?
What are the BVM-2011p or other 20" variants like? Is it worth holding out for a F1U/E1U/A/D series or is this one fine?

As just said a few postings above: they're fine as long as you're ok with analogue picture controls. On these models you get a pullout board with dozens of potis for your controls instead of digital on-screen controls.

Excuse the necrobump, but is the F1 better for 240p (picture quality) compared to the PVM? Thanks.
