I usually say G-Darius on PS1 doesn't have "slowdowns", but actually a few "fastups". The game is in a permanent slowdown state, sometimes it's incredibly slow, but for most of the time is just slow. And then, when the screen is REAL, REAL empty, the game gets as fast as the arcade version, and this never lasts for more than 2 seconds.

G-Darius on PS1 is a piece of cake because of this, as Bill said. It's still an excellent game IMO, I've played it a lot and loved it up until I saw the arcade version and was like "Holy shit, thats HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE?"

Best shmups on PS1 are Zanac X Zanac and Gradius Gaiden. They are top 10 shmups ever in my list, masterpieces that everyone should know.

Hmm I dunno ... at least it has leather-clad women?

Phalanx is just ... why the fuck is there an old man playing a banjo?

boxart artists seem lazy when they reuse the same boxart for the sequel (This isn't even the sequel. MLF2 is shikigami no shiro. When MLF1 is gunbird 1...)

Wow, I completely forgot about that MLF 2 release. Hard to complain about ports of interesting games, but that one is pretty outrageous.

I have a couple Neo Geo stick 2s for Playstation 1&2 games and they work great, the lever is tight and smooth with nice feeling micro-switches but the buttons are more familiar to traditional game pad buttons but do the job. Although since I have so many sticks at this point I try to mix it up with different styles to make it seem less redundant. The best option may be a HRAP modded with arcade parts.

The best thing about the MLF box art is it's not even remotely representative of the game, let alone the genre.

That Phallanx cover is just legendary.

If only Cave games featured art work of hill billys...
