Wizard Fire/Dark Seal 2 PCB

Post by retrogamingjohnny »

What's up guys? I need some help verifying this board. I can't help but notice the chip marked in red looks different than what any other Wizard fire boards I've seen. The board is from South Korea.

Was the chip a replacement?, different due to region or any other reason?
I know the image is blurry, but it is still possible to tell the parts. Can anyone verify this board?

This is one I found on the web

It could be the same chip, the audio amplifier to be precise. On the top picture it's just the bare chip, on the bottom it's mounted on the side of a heat sink.

Korean boards are often made more cheaply, non-critical parts omitted. In this case they've saved money on the heatsink, looks like some filter caps were left off and some resistor arrays too.
