atomiswave and scanlines?
finally got a Hokuto no Ken cart, and I'm trying to get my Atomiswave working, preferably via 31k with scanlines. Good news is my TV recognizes the VGA signal and looks great, but strangely, it doesn't work with the SLG-3000 I have. I know there's something weird about the Atomiswave in terms of its video output, but I don't understand it deeply enough to know what's wrong, or what I need to add/change.
It does look quite nice over VGA, I'd just prefer 2D art like this with some scanline definition.

Re: atomiswave and scanlines?
If none of the dip switch combinations on the SLG works, then you need a RGB interface to switch the sync polarity of your output.....

Re: atomiswave and scanlines?
Atomiswave outputs only Csync, but not H&V syncs needed for the scanline generators.
I designed Shyntek for that purpose and it's in production now... Soon to be launched on beharbros.com

Re: atomiswave and scanlines?
really, it's 31khz RGBs on the Atomiswave ? Then you could still use a sync interface to just convert RGBs to RGBHV.

Re: atomiswave and scanlines?
Yes it can output 31khz, Shyntek is a very small 2in1 device, in lieu of using a sync separator and scanline generator...

Re: atomiswave and scanlines?
but isn't that a very small target audience ? Especially when you consider that native 480p material shouldn't really be overlaid with "240p-style" scanlines ?

Re: atomiswave and scanlines?
It will be a limited edition, just for the arcade community and for prestige...
I decided to design it because Scanlines look really cool on that system, especially on those 2d snk games, On KOF games only backgrounds are hi-res but character sprites are low-res, old type, scanlines make them look better.

Re: atomiswave and scanlines?
At last Shyntek is ready to launch.
Shyntek is a VGA box for the Atomiswave, however it can be used on other arcade boards/consoles as a sync separator/cleaner.
Basically it separates CSYNC signal to true H & V SYNC signals and outputs RGBHV video signals. You can also add scanlines to the output. It accepts both 15khz & 31khz video as an input. It cleans the sync signal and produces true separate H & V SYNC signals.
Atomiswave is a nice system for the 2d beat'em ups like KOF series. It can output RGBS with Composite Sync (CSYNC) only. This causes incompatibility with some displays with VGA input. Shyntek resolves this issue by outputting true separate sync signals. Its Scanline generator function is a must for these 2d fighting and shooting games. You will be amazed when you play them with the scanlines.
I will update the site (beharbos.com) in a few days...

Re: atomiswave and scanlines?
You can count me on for one ^^
Even if I don't have an atomiswave yet, I'll grab it in a few month, so this is what I need to hock into my setup

Re: atomiswave and scanlines?
I just made arrangements to buy an Atomiswave and was doing some research on using the VGA output.
I was glad to find this thread.
I've ordered a Shyntek. It's going to be awesome. I'm really excited to get it all setup.
I've been thinking about getting my Dreamcast setup again so I'll probably be buying a Hanzo in the near future as well.
Thanks for making these products.
