Is it normal for a CRT screen to imprint an image onto the outside of the screen that can be wiped clean?
My Mr driller 2 logo from the boot up screen seems to constantly show up on the screen even when off. However, I just get a cloth and it wipes away so I am suspecting there is a moisture/condensation issue going on here (and not burn in).

Re: CRT question
If you even suspect condensation could be at issue, you should invest in a dehumidifier.
It sounds like a good guess. I can't think of anything else that could possibly give such a result, including dust from static electricity (of course the front of a tube can attract dust and the like, too).

Re: CRT question
I'll do a 10 second video at some point.
The cabs are in a garage that has no heating control at all. The cabinets go through the natural temperatures of the day.

Well, suit yourself, but you're not doing your equipment any great favors leaving it there.

Re: CRT question
Back in the 80's in England and in Japan people leave cabinets in entrances where the natural weather cycle can affect them.
I've never had a problem with the Mr Driller cab at all (its the only game I've ever put in it). The CRT was NOS 4 years ago.
The 2 New astro cities are in the same place and they never had any problems related to this. However, one has a black screen now due to dead capacitors (I believe) and the other one stays blurry for 2 or 3 mins. So I'm guessing it also has an "incident" coming up I assume.

Back in the 80's spares were plentiful and repairmen easy to find.neorichieb1971 wrote:Back in the 80's in England and in Japan people leave cabinets in entrances where the natural weather cycle can affect them.
