That's probably a really good idea once I get around to dedicating myself to it a little bit more. There are some very interesting patterns. Actually, the only real issue is that you need to clear a stage in order to access it in practice mode, which seems like a poor design decision. Still, I could try that with 1-3 normal mode. Maybe if I can no miss 1-3, I'll actually be able to clear 4. Thanks for the encouragement, also.PurpleTheGuy wrote:Hey LordHypnos, I knew you could do it! It's a start, at least. I've been working pretty hardcore on Mars Matrix recently, but I was just too tired to do much today, but still wanted to play shmups. Took 2 tries and a little bit of final boss practice.Spoiler
Plus, I've heard that scoring in Mountain in Faith at easy mode is a lot of fun to do, as with the other modes, of course, so that can be an interesting thing to look into!
Just curious: Have you thought of doing MoF in practice mode using no bombs? It's a pretty effective way to practice MoF, and it gets you to actually get used to deal with the interesting patterns MoF throws at you, and the patterns in MoF can be interesting to dodge, so it stiffens you up.

Yeah, I mentioned it, since I used to practice MoF that way, in the few times that I've played it, and it helped me improve quickly in the game, to where I got a couple rather decent clears as a result (I should improve on those, yeah).LordHypnos wrote:That's probably a really good idea once I get around to dedicating myself to it a little bit more. Yeah, I know how you feel, it's a bit of a pain to unlock the stages for practice mode, particularly for MoF (Man, unlocking stages 4 & 5 for Hard mode was a pain, and that's just for Reimu A. That, and I haven't really played MoF much), SA, and UFO, so yeah, I hear you. Also, yeah, watch out for stage 4, Aya can be quite a pain to deal with. Her last spell card is not bad, her other spell cards can be a pain to deal with. I actually haven't figured out how her other spell cards work exactly. I have a vague idea, but that's about it. Look out for the midboss Momiji as well! Otherwise, stage 4 in MoF is mostly streaming patterns.
Also, yeah, no problem, LordHypnos!

Cool, just got the Futari BL clear with Palm. Didn't take much effort actually, just woke up this morning and thought I'd give it a go. I figured it would be harder with Palm but there's really only a slight difference. His laser still functions like a slow motion button just like Reco's does.

'Grats ACSeraph! Perhaps the differences between Reco and Palm are not significant enough unless you're playing higher difficulties, or maybe Palm was tweaked in Black Label?
And you too, ChurchofSolipsism. Not really arcade difficulty, but you gotta start somewhere!

Hey everyone, what's going on?
So, yeah, I've been putting this one off for so long now, but finally, as of yesterday, I actually got to sit down with the Great Fairy Wars extra stage, and after an hour or so of some serious playing, I've beaten the extra stage of Great Fairy Wars!
It was about time I did this, it was long overdue! It's been a long time, since I last cleared an extra stage in the Touhou games! I have got to stop putting them off, honestly, but anyhow...
Here's the link to the video on YouTube (Yes, I finally have the Fraps tool! I got it not too long ago, so as of recently, I can now post videos on YouTube, so feel free to watch! Not only do I have the extra stage video set up, but I also got the videos of my two runs on Great Fairy Wars lunatic mode on C-2 and A-1 there as well on my channel. However, I still don't have the means to record high quality videos for the PS3 and the Xbox 360 games, among other systems, so that's going to be a while still):
Cirno shows her fairy powers against Marisa!
Heck, I even got this cute little congratulations thing afterwards, haha: Aww shoot, Star, I'm pretty far from being a super player, ahaha! (^_^;)
Surprisingly, this didn't take very long, once I figured out exactly what to do in many areas. I did tons better than I did a while back, like, last month. For the hardest extra stage boss in the Touhou series (Or so I've heard), Marisa isn't that bad, really. The strategies I used in my extra stage 1cc run were inspired by and based off of chum and LimD's strategies (I learned a lot from both their replays, like chum's stage strategy before Marisa in his scoring replay, and LimD's survival strategy against Marisa in his no death/no bombs run), so I would like to credit those two for helping me out a lot, and I would also like to thank Sakurei for giving me a couple pointers on how to approach the extra stage of Great Fairy Wars! You guys are great! And of course, I would like to thank the others I've thanked before for supporting me! They know who they are!
Also, I did do this little thing as well, if anyone's interested in watching: GFW Route A-1 lunatic mode 1cc
Overall, yeah!

The previous profile icon was of Karen from Kin'Iro Mosaic. An anime about two really adorable british girls studying abroad in Japan (works pretty well for them as their Japanese is considerably more natural than their English). If you're into cutesy slice of life anime then it's quite recommendable.PurpleTheGuy wrote:Thanks, Lilium (I see you changed your picture to Lily Black. Re: I DID IT! Share your latest 1CCs/other triumphs here...

The other day I broke 63 million in Shoot the Bullet, cool since I think I'm within 10 millions of the combined world records now (not sure how much it is exactly, I think It's 72-something million)
I recently got a world record in the game, which took less time than anticipated (only around 10 hours) and it was for 1-6, pictured above. Admittedly the former record was one of the weakest in the game. Plus, I seem to have a knack for 1-6.
On top of that, I now have 8 2nd place scores (1-2, 1-4, 3-5, 6-6, 6-8, 7-5, 7-6, EX-1) and a pretty damn good run of 9-6 (754,430 pts) which is the scene I put the most effort into
Pretty happy with how it's all turning out but I just can't get enough of the game and will continue to play it all the time, hehe.

Yeah, sounds about right. Chum's just doing his thing in Shoot the Bullet! You'll see him post scores almost everyday in royalflare, and the way you see him go through the various scenes in StB... yeah man. I haven't watched every single one of his submissions, but yeah, he gets pretty high scores in them. I should try to pick up on some of them after I clear StB.
Speaking of which, yeah, I should go beat StB already, I only have 8 scenes left to clear.

Hey everyone, what's up?
So yeah, as I have mentioned earlier, I did seriously get back into Shoot the Bullet after putting it off for a while due to summer school, and after a day or two (An hour or two each), I managed to clear scene 10-4! This one took a while for me to get, particularly the roadblock of the 6th and 7th king, but eventually, learning off of a few strategies for that specific part from Touhou wikia, kits and Emarrel (Both their videos helped a lot!) and actually practicing them, I finally got this scene, as of not too long ago!
Yes, finally, I captured Trial of the Ten Kings! =D
Now, that makes seven scenes left to go! I haven't given up on Shoot the Bullet yet (I won't let this game beat me, especially when I cleared some of the hardest scenes, like 9-6), not when I'm close to beating all the scenes!
I'll put the video of that particular scene up, after some time!

Hey, great going, Blinge! I know I've heard you mention working towards this goal since you got to actually meet Erppo in-person, so this is great to hear, indeed! I guess, what's the next thing you plan on doing, Blinge, if you don't mind me asking, of course? Planning on going even further into Ikaruga, or...? Also, I'm curious, which version of Ikaruga do you play in: Steam, Gamecube, or Dreamcast? Yeah, I'm debating which version I should get, since I'm planning to play Ikaruga at some point in the future. I don't know when, but it's something I do have planned for after some time. I'm trending towards either the Gamecube version or steam, but I've heard of the Dreamcast version, yet I don't currently have a Dreamcast. Thanks again for the support guys, now I must improve more instead of just talking about it.. ^_^
Okay so I play the DC version, but I've tried them all except 360. Unique to the Gamecube release is a super useful "conquest mode" which shows you demos for every section, of varying skill level in half-speed; you can then practice those sections in normal time or slowed down. That's the best thing about the GC release, otherwise I think there's a couple of issues with the port. It looks marginally worse than DC, the slowdown from the original is gone which can be jarring; stage 3 boss seems crazy fast to me for example. Oh and the GC's d-pad sucks ass.
Edit: Something that bugs me about GC is the timing from the little cutscenes is possibly different. So when ST4 boss is introduced, you're stuck in place until the cinematic is finished and you can then move, GC gives you control a couple of frames later.. The only reason I say this is because i always hold right on DC to reposition myself as soon as the fight begins (don't know if that's the best strategy but w/e). When I do that on GC, I die because it's a fraction of a second later, always. Just a little nitpick I suppose ;]
Steam is a solid port, looks great, has online leaderboards and you can view others' replays. The general consensus is that Steam is the most faithful port to the original, but also eliminates slowdown IIRC. They've also patched it to allow direct input (usb controllers/sticks work fine)
Hope that helps
For Ikaruga I just want to be up a few slots on the scoreboard, heh. I find myself returning to the game after a couple of months each time, I can't stay away for long! After that I'll probably get into Border Down, it looked pretty cool in STG weekly, at least gain an understanding of it.PurpleTheGuy wrote: what's the next thing you plan on doing, Blinge, if you don't mind me asking, of course?
