Can someone verify this SFC cart?

Post by retrogamingjohnny »

Hey guys how's it going. I recently bought a SFC game on ebay and just got the right tool to open it up. This is my first SFC game so I need anyone who has experience to help me verify whether it is genuine. The game is Gourmet Sentai Bara Yarou, quite rare. The shell and label look unquestionably genuine,

but I am 50/50 unsure about the pcb. The first thing that got me bugged is the serial # on the master code. I run a check on a SFC master list on http://www.sitesnes.com/dossiers/master ... amicom.htm and got SHVC-AV6J-JPN, which is the same as what I got on the label, but the chip on the pcb reads SHVC-AV6J-0

The difference is the 0 instead of JPN as in the master list. Can someone explain this? Are the master code on the label and chips supposed to be different? or is this a concern?
Another thing is the cutting on the left, right, and top of the pcb are not uniform. They don't look done by machine

The soldering look very precise and machine made

Can someone verify this cart while I so I can be at peace. I appreciate the help.

Looks fine. The catalogue ID is the one on the label, while the -0 version is liekly just a part number.

The PCB's edges are often like this. They're basically broken apart. Also you can't burn a mask rom like this. If it was a custom cart, it would be a standard Eeprom instead with different pinout, so some of the pins would need to be rerouted by hand.

Thanks Fudoh I appreciate the info. It really eases my mind. By the way nice to know you. You are quite popular in these boards. I read your framemeister and sony BVM 20f1u review which got me interested into buying one.

Seconded, Maskrom=real, you can't fake that. The label can be faked though, I'm not saying or even hinting that yours is fake, just saying in general.
