New guy with RGB and modding questions

Post by Milamber »

Hi all
just some quick questions, haven't screwed up yet

was just familiarising myself with viletims RGB install instructions waiting for my board to arrive (again, its like waiting for xmas)

1. in step 4 he mentions "don't forget to set the solder jumpers as required" is he talking about jumpers not obvious in the diagram, from what I can see the only soldering required is for the PPU and wiring or is he referring to the difference between wiring up the 8-din to the s-video? im guessing the latter but I want to be sure.

2. from what I have read the RGB mod includes a audio amp but doesn't provide stereo, are there any stereo mods compatible with the RGB mod. There are some pretty simple looking av ones but I don't whats going on with the signal path with the added amp

thanks, if this thread is in the wrong area leme know

Try asking in the Hardware subforum. I saw folks discussing there who rarely show on here.

The jumpers he is referring to are ones that deal with selecting NTSC vs PAL and whether or not the NESRGB will be powered by the console's regulator or an external one.

Refer to this for specifics:

Depending on your setup and region you might need to bridge some of the pads with solder (they look in real life how they look on the pinout diagram). If you aren't using an external regulator, you have to bridge J3 with solder or else it won't work! I believe my first install seemed to be a dud because of this... though I didn't realize it until after trying to redo some of the work. Hopefully there was something more that I screwed up the first time and it wasn't just something that stupid. But I digress.
