Game of Thrones *Full Spoiler* Discussion - TV & Books
Game of Thrones *Full Spoiler* Discussion - TV & Books
I'll start of with this:
What is the point of Danaerys's claim to Westeros? From very early on we know that she can't have children, and so can't establish a dynasty. Which is really the whole point. Even if she magically could bear children, it wouldn't be a Targaryan (apologies for spelling throughout) dynasty. I suppose this is why GRRM decided to pull a cousin of hers out of thin air in Book 5 (I think it was Book 5..).
She's the one everyone wants on the throne; for a finale, Stannis as king would be kind of a downer, Tommen would be kinda tepid. Little Finger would be kind of awesome, although Varys certainly wouldn't allow it. Maybe Rickon marries Myrcella? (But who cares about Rickon, honestly.)
Maybe Dany abandons the Iron Throne and conquers Essos? Not so bad.

Re: Game of Thrones *Full Spoiler* Discussion - TV & Books
This is an extremely broad scope for a thread, but a couple things...
If you're familiar with the "RLJ" phenomenon, there's even more to talk about here. Hard to discuss openly without spoiling anything for show-watchers though...
We don't necessarily know this is true, just that the old witch told her she would be barren. Sort of hoping its true though, if only so we don't have to see any Daario bastards running around.Moniker wrote: From very early on we know that she can't have children,
If you believe Dany can't have children due to the prophecy, then you should also believe that Cercei will see both of her (remaining) children die (different old witch prophecy). Meaning Tommen won't end up on the throne.Moniker wrote:Tommen would be kinda tepid.
I kind of agree with this.Moniker wrote:Little Finger would be kind of awesome,

Bran Stark forms an alliance with the White Walkers, gets the Iron Throne, magically controls his dick and rapes Dany who just got here on her last dying dragon.

I want Arya on the throne. THE END.

Arya's too badass to sit on a throne. She's a righteous assassin (and my future real-life bride... hands off). And she's the only preteen female badass ever. My feeling is she, Varys, and Tyrion will decide who sits in the end. Unless it's Littlefinger.emphatic wrote:I want Arya on the throne. THE END.

How about the usurper's bastard then? He's pretty cool.Moniker wrote:Arya's too badass to sit on a throne. She's a righteous assassin (and my future real-life bride... hands off). I stand corrected. There are two.
As for Gendry, I wonder if there is a provision in GoT's lines of succession for bastards. If there are no living blood relatives except for bastards, does the bastard become lord/king? I'm guessing that Rickon will eventually become lord of Winterfell, but if not, Jon Snow's all that's left.
Was rewatching season 4 from the beginning. Jaime quasi-rapes Cersei next to her son's dead body... Strains Jaime's standing as fan favorite and as Neutral-Good.
Some D&D Fun:
Ned, Robb Stark - Lawful Good
Arya Stark - Chaotic Good
Jon Snow - Lawful/Neutral Good
Stannis Baratheon - Lawful Neutral
Ser Davos - Neutral Good
Melisandre - Chaotic Good/Neutral
Tywin Lannister - True Neutral?
Tyrion, Jaime Lannister - Neutral Good
Cersei Lannister - Chaotic Neutral
Joffrey Lannister - Chaotic Evil
The Hound - True Neutral
Danaerys - Lawful/Neutral Good
Jorah Mormont - Neutral Good
Berristan Selmey - Lawful Good
Bastard of Bolton - Chaotic Evil
Roose Bolton - Chaotic Neutral
Walder Frey - Neutral Evil

Stannis for the Iron Throne FTW.
Frankly though, I've only seen the TV series but already hearing they're deviating quite a lot from the books in several areas. GRRM will pull some bullshit to change things completely I'm sure.
I think there is. IIRC Jon Arryn and Stannis were trying to find Robert's blood relatives (which Eddard Stark figured out) for this exact reason. Keep watching through Season 4 and you'll see Ramsay Snow (the Bolton bastard) actually gets made a 'Bolton' too by King's declaration. As for Gendry, I wonder if there is a provision in GoT's lines of succession for bastards. In the end that one bastard will rule them all although he knows nothing !
