::sigh:: At least I can say I've given it a decent effort when I finish with it.
Like I said, it takes a while to click. You need to learn what it's all about first. After dicking around with all the characters I favoured the elf, she's fast and fun to play. Remember to play solo and don't switch characters.
I'll give it some more time for sure. What I'm not understanding is how to turn off the other computer controlled characters. I've checked the options menus and can't seem to figure out what turns them off. It's certainly a very nice looking game...control is still being judged. I may end up switching to a new character as Fighter is just too slow, I think.
Get to the tavern, and press Triangle when selecting other characters. Also, Amazon is quite fun to play with.
Give the game some more time, it has a lot of action in it, even though the beginning has some chit chat.

Yeah, I kinda figured that out after the initial plunge. Think I'll try the Amazon or Elf next. Speed is very necessary.

That said, the Dwarf is fun if you're into throwing enemies. Great crowd control and his burst move does massive damage.

^ dwarf was the first character I used in my playthrough and it was a blast (I love how the voice announcer pronounced it "dwaaav"). It was even more fun playing local co-op with my buddy who played as a amazon with me as a support wizard and I'd definitely suggesting playing local with a partner since the mechanics are pretty cool. wizard was a a completely different play style (a bit more difficult to grasp with the casting meter) it was fun to play as a support character.

elf is the character that the majority of the internet hyped at the time of release and what I noticed the majority of GAF posting about. definitely the most popular character of the bunch. she's also said to be one of the easier characters to play with along with dwarf but harder than fighter.

It barely has any and what little it has is garbage compared to Grim Grimoire or even Odin Sphere.
Your statement is nigh-incomprehensible to me. It also seems backwards due to the initial clause.

Understand: Capcom's D&D arcade series would be *plenty* of story for me.
the thing is odin sphere's story is good enough that you actually want to pay attention to it... even if you prefer a bare bones story presentation. the main issue for me is that gameplay is a less complex version of muramasa: the demon blade.. which was fine for me until muramasa released, but now I prefer muramasa purely because of the gameplay.

over time their writing has gotten much worse which I don't really mind since I prefer the gameplay anyway.
