The Parodius games

Post by Fighter17 »

I just played Parodius for the PC Engine, and the only thing I have to say is: WTF!! The level designs are just simply, fucked. Anyway, what are all the Parodius games for all systems, I would like to try out more of them. :)

Sexy Parodious is my personal favorite of the series. Need to get a hold of the Saturn version soon.

I love Sexy Parodius and Goku Parodius. Both are excellent games, just wish the rank was a bit nicer.

God I've wasted so many hours of my life on these games. I had them all on floppy disk for my SNES (SuperWildcard DX disk copier attachment) way back in the day. Damn they were fun.

Time to pull my SNES out of the cupboard and reminisce! :D

Easy Man! Parodius on the PCE is an excellent port.

Yeah, if you count the Konami MSX Antique Collection and the Gokujyou Parodius Da! Deluxe Pack , all Parodius games were released for the Saturn (And for the Playstation too)

Just for the record, Parodius Da! was also released for the NES and the Gameboy.

If the truth be told, the Parodius games have always been the better Gradius games. The first one I got was the SFC one, back when it was released. That just blew me away. I also have the Deluxe Pack, Oshaberi, Sexy and Paro Wars, all for PSX.

Sexy Parodius is the one I got most recently, haven't really spent much time with it yet. Maybe this Christmas break tho. :)

Gokujyo Parodius takes the lead. i've only played it on SFC, but it is absolutely incredible.

as always though parodius kills gradius when it comes to rank build-up.
I have no sig whatsoever.

Gokujyou Parodius get my vote for the best but they're all awesome. The special stage in Gokujyou is mental, I'd love to see some replays of that.

I love the level designs of the game, they were good. My only major complant with all the SFC Parodius are the major slowdown in the game (mostly because of the SFC very slow CPU).

I think Gokujyou is the best game too

For me, it goes like that

Gokujyou > Da! > Jikkyo Oshaberi > Sexy > Parodius

The special stage in Sexy is even more mental.

The humor in Sexy Parodius is simply priceless!
Especially the cutscenes between the levels.

The best way to defeat the gun wall is to get a blue bell from the enemies that fly towards you just before the fight. That will grant you invincibility to kill off the 1st wave of guns.

Heh, it's always nice to see Parodius 'virgin' on the message board. THeir reactions are always fun to read.

Gokujou parodius was the reason I bought playstation in the first place..

Or you can play with Mambo and use the search lasers. That way you only have to worry about dodging all the stuff onscreen and not about aiming into those small holes in the wall.

That said, I never managed to complete the second to last mission. I never got enough coins. Is there some trick to it?

Despite having less characters to choose from than the other games in the series, I like Da! the best. PCE version, because that one hasn't issues with the hit detection like the Saturn port on the deluxe pack. Gokujyou would be my favourite if the rank was just a little less harsh. If you play well, it maxes out as early as the cake stage, which, imo, is too early for such a long game.

I can't let a Paro thread go by without sticking my head in and saying that they're all great and worth playing. (heh)

Some coins regenerate, so you can sit in one place and rack 'em up. When you get to the giant "spiral" section, grab a Green Bell and park in the middle

Quick plug for my Paro score tables.. Please take part if you like the games (see sig)
