XM2960 Issue

Post by Skips »

A few weeks ago I managed to snag an XM2960 (AKA XM29 Plus) locally and it seems to have an issue where warm colors bloom into the area surrounding them. This problem becomes more noticeable when you have colors like red or yellow next to a dark color such as black or dark green.

Here is a shitty photo of the issue to give a good idea.

The RGB, contrast, and brightness levels are not cranked up. Adjusting the fly back(turning it up or down) does not effect this issue. This issue is present in high and low contrast modes. The problem does lessen the lower you turn the contrast and or RGB levels however you have to turn them down well below 50% to get the problem to not be visible and this of course produces way to dim of a picture. It does this with all inputs (including composite and S-Video). Has anyone seen this issue before?
I am no longer taking free or paid modding projects, please do not contact me asking for my services. Thanks :).

Sadly I believe this issue is caused by an aging picture tube. There's really nothing that can be done to fix it.
