Here's my Gradius Gaiden 4-Loop clear on Hardest difficulty:Loop 1,Loop 2,Loop 3,Loop 4

I'm pretty sure loop 4 is where the difficulty maxes out on the hardest setting, it seems the same to me as playing on loop 8 via the practice mode.

I just want to say that this game is awesome, one of the best I've ever played. They get everything so right, and the customization and selection of ships adds some interesting elements not present in other games of the series. I can't believe this game never made it to the US, that is just an absolute shame.

I am getting my third life on Stage 2 of SDOJ V. 1.5 a little more often now. It's kinda tough because everything has to be perfect. Gotta chain all of Stage 1 and get 7 hypers. Gotta deploy my level 7 hyper at the first Stage 2 big baddie, chain all the way through the midboss, then deploy a second hyper right after the midboss, chain the rest of the level, then no miss/no bomb/no hyper the stage 2 boss, which is actually quite difficult for me by this point. This gets me a 100,000 chain on stage 2.

Also, if I immediately deploy a level 10 hyper at the beginning of stage three, I can time it so it do that cool hyper restock thing where I automatically restock 4+ hypers (which is so satisfying). Keep the chain going until I see the boats, at which point I hyper and collect (maybe I can time this hyper deployment for restocking). Anyway, by this time I get about a 100,000 chain at the mid-boss, but I pretty much always drop the chain while dodging the insanity that comes out of that mother.

Had my best run yet (score wise) because I didn't really make any mistakes up until that stage 3 midboss.

Love this game. Usually with Cave I have to damn near No-Miss Stages 1-4 so I have plenty to spare for 5, because 5 always sucks. Not sure if I'll make the 1-ALL with Type A, no autobomb, but oh how that would be sweet. Taking my time with this one.

DANGUN 1CC!!! :D

Was an exciting run, down to the wire, using my last bomb during the final pattern and just squeaked by.

And then there were 4: Guwange, SDOJ, Progear, Pink Sweets

Hey guys, it's been a little bit since last time! Yeah, not long ago, after sitting down seriously with Crimzon Clover at long last (Took me long enough), and playing for a bit, I managed to get my 1st ever 1cc of Crimzon Clover on Simple Mode using Type I! :)

Version 1.01 - Simple Mode - Type I
PurpleTheGuy - 0億6943万3090 - ALL CLEAR!! (Lx3)
Spoiler
Image
Just for notes sake, I played version 1.01 of Crimzon Clover, and this submission was from me playing the original Crimzon Clover, not the World Ignition one that came out not long ago.

Anyhow... Whew, oh man, was that final stage boss so terrifying, especially since, in this 1st 1cc run off I pulled off, that was my 1st time ever facing the final stage boss (I even had, I think, 7 - 8 lives with me by the time I got to face him in his 1st form)! That was the scariest thing I think I have faced yet so far in my shmup career! Boy, did I just pale, when there was a moment I thought I beat the final boss, only for him to transform to his 2nd form (Well, I actually sort-of expected it, more-or-less, judging by how the 1st from wasn't that hard to manage), and then again to his third form (This where I got real surprised, and really wondered just how many forms does the final stage boss have ), and my gosh, that was quite a fight! There was a moment, where I thought I might not be able to beat him, but I just did it, with 3 lives to spare somehow! :) Ha.. Haha... It's pretty funny that this is just simple mode, lol. Oh man, Yotsubane/Clover-TAC, this was one heck of a game you made, what else can I say, other than took me long enough? I'll be definitely playing this one, alongside with a few other games! I sure did learn a lot playing this one, even I used my bombs very often in the final stage, lol, and then me only recently playing this game not long ago! :D

May this 1st 1cc lead to something even bigger! :) Now, I have a replay to show to a friend of mine's who interested in what this game, Crimzon Clover, is about! :D He already liked what he saw, when I showed him a couple Touhou replays, and now, I can show him a Crimzon Clover replay, as well!

Thanks Jonst and Plasmo. It is a brutal and fast game, but with solid route building and execution it is very doable. After a few weeks i could occasionally no miss stages 1-4, but the end of stage 5 really caused me trouble since I used Lock option which simply wasn't strong enough to kill that last fleet of ships... then I learned the trick where you delay the destruction of the powerup carriers and the results are that you don't even have to deal with the final barrage of enemies!!! What a difference that made, still the final boss (not TLB) is a pain in the butt.

Also, I played only on PCB so of course no save states just had to throw that out there

A little late here, but congrats Chempop. I have very minimal knowledge of Dangun Feveron, but I've heard it's hard as balls with really fast bullets. Nice. and without even using savestates

Also, was that list of 4 games the last remain CAVE clears that you have left? That'd be pretty impressive if you managed to clear every CAVE game. You're pretty close, too.

Dangun feveron is hard as balls with really fast bullets. It's pretty uncommon to see a df 1cc these days,so should salute chempop for this achievement! I have the pcb but must admit I havn't spent that much time with it past the first day I got it...still,I don't see myself clearing it anytime soon.

Yes, not 2-Alls or Ultra modes, just first loops of the primary arcade versions and most black labels and arrange modes.

A few exceptions:

MMP 1.01 - I plan on doing a 1-All of 1.00
DDP DOJ BL - I plan on doing a 1-All on white label
Ibara Kuro I likely won't bother with due to the +$1000 pricetag

Was that on the Chempop label PCB? I swear your PCB played the game like 10% faster than it should. Which in any case is impressive that cleared it this way. :P

Yeah, I always forget that they included that in the PSP version. It's still kind of sad that it took nearly 10 years for it to come to the US, such an awesome game.

Hey everyone, what's up? So, yeah, not long ago, after sitting down for an hour or so with Great Fairy Wars for today (I've been playing this one extensively lately), I've gotten my 1st Hard Mode Route A1 1cc of the game! This comes the day after I got all six routes beaten for normal mode, unlocking the Extra stage for me, so this was pretty cool! :)

Hard deed done for route A1!

Screenshot:
Screenshot

So, yeah, I didn't expect that I'd get this Hard Mode clear so quickly. I just sat down with this thing for an hour, and well, it worked out, despite some pretty glaring mistakes in this run that I normally don't do (Well, okay, it took a little while to do, because I did try this one earlier in the month, and it didn't work out quite well then)! Hmm, at this rate, I should really go take on the Extra stage of this one, and perhaps clear a couple more routes on Hard mode, and start to aim for the Lunatic Mode 1cc. Anyhow, yeah, this was great! :D

Haha, thanks Jonst! :) Yeah, I've been playing Great Fairy Wars extensively for some time now, and well, I got to a point where, I just did this Hard Mode clear in an hour or so, it was pretty cool! I used to struggle with that mode of difficulty, but after watching some replays, and thinking about what could have been better, this happened. Yeah, besides that, there isn't much else to say, at the moment, other than what's already been said, yeah. Not too bad, considering I'm having to deal with summer school at the same time (Yeah, I ended up going to summer school to get a required class out of the way, since I've heard that said class is said to be easier to deal with in the summer than in the regular semesters, and a few of my friends are in that class, in which I carpool with, so yeah) which has temporarily cut the time I would have had to play by quite a bit. :( That'll be over soon enough, though. :)

With that said, how's things going with Ketsui, Jonst, if you like to mention? From what I've last heard, if I'm not wrong, you've been working on that game in-particular after getting your Mushihimesama Futari ver. 1.5 original 1cc.

Haha! I've had to put ketsui (x mode) on hold.It was annoying me to much, there's no progress but I havn't gotten any worse, still make stage 5 but usually die before the stage 5 extend, the mistakes I was making were: playing when really tired and playing beyond the point I should have stopped.I love the game but have given it a break in favour of under defeat hd (which was an old goal to try and clear) I'm enjoying the different pace and style,I just wish there was at least 1 extend in the game...
I now (wrongly) expect to clear anything I play.Because I cleared donpachi, dodonpachi and futari within weeks of each other! My best shmuping year so far I think for that alone. Thanks for asking btw. What clear will you go for next purple?

Loaded up Raiden Fighters Aces since I hadn't played it since the FF5 4 Job Fiesta started. around 3-4 runs later, I beat the Full Run course on Jet with 125,458,030 points on Normal Difficulty. Finished with no spare lives or bombs, but it feels so good to have done this mode 1cc. Maybe one day I'll be able to say the same for it on Arcade Difficulty, but I know that Arcade Difficulty All3 has to come first since if I can't beat 7 stages on 1 credit, there's no way I'll beat 12 stages on 1 credit.

Finally cleared that stupid Gunbird 1 train stage. Talking about the second loop version.
It took hundreds of credits before I finally accidentally stumbled on the solution. Pretty sure I can clear it close to 100% of the times now. Whooo hoo :!:

Hmm, I see. Well, they say that, taking a break from a game every once in a while might do some good in the long run, where one plays other games for a bit, then come back to that certain game one day, and "Wham!" they got it in one go, or so that's how it goes. I believe you'll clear/1cc (I don't know, if you plan to do the 2nd loop of that game) Ketsui one day, I'm certain of this (Speaking of Ketsui, I plan to get Ketsui for the PS3 pretty soon, if all goes well :))!

Ah, Under Defeat's not bad! Best of luck in that game (It looks like Stevens did pretty well in the 1st loop of Under Defeat, so I think you can give that one a shot!)! At some point, I plan to get that one, maybe a few months from now.
Jonst wrote:What clear will you go for next purple?
Hmm... Well, I guess, for a start, I am getting rather far in Great Fairy Wars, to where I'm going to go for that Lunatic Mode 1cc for Route A1 of Great Fairy Wars (At this point, it actually seems possible for me to do), then maybe do the same for a couple other routes as well (A2 and C2 look very good to try). That, and I do plan on beating the Extra stage of GFW. I got this far in GFW (Back then, before my two-year hiatus, and several months ago, when I got back into the STG genre, I never would have believed I would 1cc Great Fairy Wars) so I feel there's no reason to suddenly stop out now, especially when it looks like I'm about to reach to where I never would have thought possible before. Yeah, I'm totally loving this game right now, you can say .

There's a lot more goals where that came from on my end, besides that, but that will make this post very long to where it'll be a tl;dr (Well, maybe this post itself is kind of long ). Let's just say there's a lot more I have in-mind, besides Great Fairy Wars. I'll get to the other goals soon enough, especially after summer school gets done for me, as there wouldn't be anything holding me back, to where I'm going to try to play extensively at the STG genre to make up for the lost two years I had worth of hiatus that I didn't plan. I'll let you know, when they come. :)

@ thanks for your words of encouragement purple! I would love to 1cc both of these games and will work hard to get them, yeah,I'm only really interested in the 1st loops...I do get frustrated when progress seems to stop and change games.actually,My 2014 shmup goals were to 1cc progear and batrider,I've played a bit of both this year but didn't feel close enough to stick with it,also not practice to have pcb's out with a 2 year old running around! (So back to ketsui and u d)
Good luck with whatever your next goal is and keep us posted.I genuinely love reading about people achievements here! :D

Nice work! I officially passed the 100 hour mark yesterday. It is a really satisfying game to play.

As far as the last boss goes -

If you mean the twin vulcans - I hang at the bottom of the screen (in the middle) and dodge through them. Practice mode is godlike for that one, you'll start to see the gaps in the bullets.

If you mean the twin bursts - These are a giant pain in the ass. If both of them are left I wait till the last moment and use a bomb. If only one if left I get as far away as possible and dodge through it.

The thing with the 2nd phase of the last boss is once you have a good plan, it shouldn't be able to get off a twin attack more than once with both parts operational. Obviously both are easier to dodge when only one is working.

I'm in awe of your under defeat skills!
Yeah I'm not sure what the attack is called,so I call it the split shot attack. It's a really fast attack where the shots 'split' down the screen firing left and right. It seems random to me,as I don't always face it.which is why I ask if there is a way to avoid it altogether? What are the best guns to take out first on the second form, outside or inside?
