You know how one of the opposing parties defeated the official party of 70 years in Mexico back in 2000, right? There's this little thing they instated, the voter card with picture, and 15 different security measures to guard against fraud. Until then, all the elections had been rigged (can't wait to cast my vote now that they will allow us expatriates vote in the consulate). If it worked in a 3rd world country like Mexico which was known for election fraud, it should work here. But noooooo... congress shmongress and legislation shmegislation.
Anyone who thinks that the voting process here (or anywhere, really) is 100 percent fair, or even close, needs to pay better attention. This IS politics we're talking about.
There a lot more wrong with US politics than a few rigged voting machines. Just look at our two parties. Does it really matter any more who wins? Any party that really wants to change things just gets barred from debates and is sometimes subject to harassment.
edit: also its kind of funny. when they were first announcing these touch screen shits, i was imagining all this very stuff... just without evidence to back me up. :B
There was actually a story in the paper today about this very issue. It's good to see that it's getting some attention, though I doubt anything will come of it.
