Vintage 1976 Toshiba Blackstripe 13" Color TV

Post by Rob79 »

Here's one of my favorite vintage small TV sets.
Managed to grab this FREE off someone getting rid of it on craigslist.
I called 2 times, no answer. Called a 3rd time and got a hold of the person.
They said they were going to throw it away for recycling or give it to Goodwill,
but then listed it on craigslist to see if someone wanted it.
Anyways, I went to go see it and to my amazement, the thing is near mint !
It looks like it was hardly used ! The picture on it is still great too !
It was manufactured in Japan May 1976.

Wow. What a beauty. And that red, oh man.
Absolutely beautiful find.

Nice to see how you saved it from getting tossed!
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. It's more like finding a bunch of hidden radars, or maybe like finding a fairy because now you get a red TV to throw at somebody.

Maybe this thread should be merged with the one about collecting vintage TVs.

Holy shit, PHONE. You could talk to the little people inside the TV back in those days. Technology sure has gone down the toilet since those halcyon days, eh?

Very good catch. Nice condition, too!
It's almost as old as me and definitely in better shape! :?

That thing is awesome. I see I am not the only one with a fetish for old CRTs here.
Seriously that thing looks like it`s new O.O

I also got possibly lucky on the local craiglist.
I am in the process of acquiring one of these:

It is apparently in good condition, for free. But it requires some repairs. Still I cannot let this thing go away. It is too unique and rare.

That would be awesome as a dedicated Famicom TV.

Sharp actually made one

There was also a US NES version too. I got to play Duck Hunt on one at TooManyGames. Good stuff.
