Recommended Anime/Manga?
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
I liked NHK enough to watch it thrice. The episodes dealing with suicide are my favorite, and they have a lot of impact. I also felt they were way better in the anime than in the manga version.
However, their intensity also made the rest of the episodes less powerful in comparison, even though they are still very interesting.

I'm giving it a second run through too - the problem of liking something is I end up being unable to stop watching it and go through too much of it all at once. Hence, why I only like terrible things. Terrible!
A forum comment on MAList reminded me why us anime bastards are awful people - basically it was like "why couldn't their game become a big success through a series of contrived coincidences???" And I was like "that's the entire point. Real life doesn't work like that. You don't win the jackpot over night, you work hard and eventually in a few years you might be able to just scrape by."
I'm not going to lie, when I saw it was like ~24 episodes I dreaded starting it. 12 is usually plenty. But now I desire more episodes (which will never come, sadly).

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
watching Sol Bianca - love it so far, it definitely has the Bubblegum Crisis feel audio visually
.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
I just learned of this OVA from someone at another forums several months ago. I have yet to watch it, though it does indeed look like something I'd enjoy. Apparently it has much of the same AIC studio staff involved with Bubblegum Crisis, Gal Force, Wannabes etc, so it's no surprise they may share some similarities.Raytrace wrote:watching Sol Bianca - love it so far, it definitely has the Bubblegum Crisis feel audio visually.
Gonna have to watch it soon I think.

watching initial d again. so good.
Elysian Door - Naraka (my WIP PC STG) in development hell for the moment
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
I watched both last night - they weren't amazing story wise, but the art and music (and how they were together) was more than enough to make it very enjoyable - Char's voice actor is in the second one too :p. Unfortunately it seems they planned to make a 3rd one as there was loads of stuff they just start to explain at the end of the 2nd OVA but just nothing then...DaneSaga wrote:I just learned of this OVA from someone at another forums several months ago. I'm planning to start to properly watch Gall Force tonight - I never finished before, but it's been so long I think I have to go back to start :p.

Looks like I'm going to have to start watching Sol Bianca, thanks for the heads up!
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Knights Of Sidonia 9 was great, I love how it manages to be chilling, well off putting at least, even though so much of it is really brightly lit.
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
I've been watching Sidonia too, the manga is better imo, it's more japanesey, more gory and the artwotk is beautiful

It sux they are only planning to do 12 eps.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Got around to watching Patema Inverted. Mildly disturbed by the lack of animation. I don't like pretty handpainted backgrounds much if they are static and lifeless. Some dialogues and character actions are really weird and the pacing could be a lot faster. At some point I thought I was watching a SHAFT show.
I like the premise, at least. And ED is the shit.

started rewatching first Gall Force but fell asleep unfortunately - shall watch today - I love how within like 20 seconds of the start there's a massive overload of Itano circus

I'm getting a bit worried that there's been no new Ashita No Joe subs since January

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
So i just finished watching DNA2 and was left pleasantly surprised was a good funny screwball anime the story is pretty wacky and the main protagonist goofy and at times you really want to punch him through the screen I hate the idea why he chose willingly to miss so many chances of getting poontang! xD and the ending was a bit of a disappointment I really liked Karin and wanted to see something spark up imo she was the best looking girl there, there was also a plot hole or two in there.
I wont spoil it too much but yea would definitely recommend watching it, I had the old series in my vcd collection but I read theres a new updated version of the anime with better quality as usual I would stick to watching the subbed version as I just saw the trailer for the dubbed version and it just seemed lame in comparison.

Where could I E-mail or mail to if I want to address my ideas and Opinions?
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
looks to be a decent few weeks coming up for anime releases. Nozomi/ Lucky Penny are letting season one of Cat's Eye out of the bag. Discotek are set to destroy some kids childhood with Ringing Bell, and ViZ are releasing the last bit of Ranma 1/2 that is still considered watchable.
Also thinking of blind buying Mononoke (not that thing about a princess), as I hear good things and it does look somewhat intriguing.
oh and some good news for down the road, Discotek managed to licence the Violence Jack OVAs.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Yup Initial D is great. I would recommend for the spring season Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusader.
You don't really have to watch the prequel (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (2012)). Of course would help a lot but don't worry things get BIZARRE anyways!!!!
Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Ginga Tetsudou 999 are both 2 MUST watched.
If you are really interested in Anime/Manga and like to exchange experiences or even need some advices just pm me! Here is my MAL Acc (if you got one as well, just feel free to add me

I watched a story arc and a bit of Yu Yu Hakusho. I was vaguely curious about the wispy anime fellows on the cover of the Treasure MD game. I thought DBZ was as tedious and airheaded as shonen dishwater got. I was wrong, though in fairness to YYH, not by much. Turns out I don't want the MD game either. Cashback!

HxH goes downhill after the Genei Ryodan's arc.
I've been reading Dainana Joshikai Houkou. It's sooo good, but there's only 2 vols scanlated. The main characters are so adorable, I hope more volumes get translated soon.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
I've encountered a weird error on my android manga reader app where there's an error parsing a chapter (it won't open.)
I'm using Quick Manga because it's easy to drop scanlations directly into the reader directory and open in the viewer - but for the life of me I can't understand this error. It only happens with Akira colour version after chapter 6, but the files aren't corrupt or anything, everything seems fine.
Any recommended alternative android readers you guys can suggest? I tried Rock Manga but it won't allow me to manually import manga into the file directory, which is a must for me.

Sidonia 10 was amaze - I'm also currently rewatching SDF Macross - just watched the 'Phantasm' episode, which was great; normally 'dream' episodes are kinda shit, but this one was very well done IMO.
Next up: 'Pineapple Salad'

I've been watching Rowdy Sumo Wrestler Matsutaro. It's by Tetsuya Chiba, the author of Ashita no Joe. So good.
Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
sounds ace, unfortunately there are still no updates on Ashita No Joe being finishedFrenetic wrote:

Finished watching Fate/ Zero. I think there's a movie of it but I'm not sure. After that, I'm moving on to Fate/ Stay Night.

Re: Recommended Anime/Manga?
Quick Manga has been discontinued for a while now. They now have Pocket Manga which is the same app but with a few more sites to download scanlations from. Maybe this one has fixed that bug.Skykid wrote:I've encountered a weird error on my android manga reader app where there's an error parsing a chapter (it won't open.)

I think just moving the scanlation folders into the Pocket Manga folder should work for an easy import.

Thanks Ruldra, I'll try that this afternoon.

Ruldra, I can't for the life of me find Pocket Manga on the app store. Are you sure it hasn't been discontinued?
I'd be happy with any good android reader ATM - as long as it has a file structure that allows me to import my own manga files in, the same way as quickmanga. I'm not even concerned with download functionality right now, just want to finish reading Akira in colour!

Ah great, turns out Pocket Manga was also removed from the store. I'm out of ideas, sorry.
