So here's the sitch.
In Armored Core 2 for PS2 (actual disc on an unmodified PS2 slim, Model SCPH 90001 or something to that effect) sometimes at the end of missions, a sound effect will continually loop, lasting all through the loading screen, into the main menu, and continuing even into further missions. The only way to stop it is to turn off or reset the game.
My friend Geo used to own an early fat-model PS2 (again, no mods whatsoever) and he claims he always had the same problem.
So what's going on here? And is there anything I can do about it or do I just have to live with it?

Unaware of this exact issue, but AC2 was rushed out to meet the PS2's Japanese launch and is a notoriously buggy, slowdown-ridden, and underwhelming title. Along with its expansion Another Age, it's definitely one of the worst games in the series.
From fixed nearly every issue with the AC2 games in AC3, besides the lack of dual analog support (which was not added until Nexus).

Yea I had that same sound bug happen all the time, it's one of the main reasons I refused to play 2 anymore. I have no clue what causes it, though.

I never had slowdown issues. This audio glitch is the only thing I really noticed.

I must be the only person that prefers the PS1-style controls for mech combat. Also, yeah AC2 was balls and broken, but what's wrong with AA? I prefered it to pretty much anything that came afterwards.Pretas wrote:From fixed nearly every issue with the AC2 games in AC3, besides the lack of dual analog support (which was not added until Nexus).

... Actually no. I always felt more comfortable with the classic-style controls for the AC games too.nZero wrote:I must be the only person that prefers the PS1-style controls for mech combat.

Same, dual sticks never felt correct to me since looking up/down quickly wasn't generally very necessary. Dual-stick controls had some actual advantages though, since you could fire interior parts without having to equip them in the right side weapon slot.Edmond Dantes wrote:... Actually no. Sad to say I get the audio bug as well :/
I have a completed save for AA ready if I get an itch to play that.
