Let's talk about non-official versions of arcade games. It's common knowledge that Chinese bootlegs are generally of questionable quality. But then there's also the arcade bootlegs from the 80s which seem to be as reliable as originals. I'd be quite interested in why certain games have a much higher quality than today's bootlegs.
Another thing that prompted the creation of this thread, I've often read that conversions (CPS2, PGM carts to Cave games) will die a lot earlier than official pcbs, and I'm really interested in why this is (supposed to be) so. Quite a lot of info can be found on the net, of course, but it's all bits and pieces. So if you know anthng about this topic or have hands on experience with bootlegs/ conversions fire away!
(Plz note I am in no way interested in where these boots/ conversions may be aquired, only in the technical side of things. I also don't want to start a discussion of whether conversions are justifiable. Thanks.
