Need help deciding Sony PVM 2530 or Sony BVM 20F1U

Post by slai50 »

So I have a chance to purchase a PVM-2530 or a BVM-20F1U monitor. According to the seller of the PVM 2530, the unit has a manufacture date of 2001 and is practically brand new. The BVM 201FU I do not know the manufacture date or the number of hours used. I will find out when I go see the unit. The PVM is $125 and the BVM is $200. Which one should I go for?

I'd get both. That doesn't seem a bad price for a BVM. If you absolutely can only get one, a brand-new 2530 sounds rockin'. It's a bit on the heavy side (100-110ish pounds) but the viewing size over 20" should be worth it.

I have a PVM-2530. Not as new or nice as the one this guy is selling but same unit. It is good, but not great.

Dealing with the POTS adjustments on the back is a PITA.

But if its as new as buddy says then I doubt you'll have to do that.

BMV I think allows you to save profiles etc as different consoles will require adjusting to fit the picture.

I wish I had your problem, where I live only place local to me that has 20' PVM's with onscreen etc is asking $450 +

I'd love to see a new 2530 runnin next to mine just to see what use and age can do.

I'd go with the 25", the extra size makes a massive difference but it's not so big that it affects the image.

2530, bigger screen and prettier to look at when off.

Picture quality is comparable.
