Seems like there's a small bug in training mode. Whenever you retry a stage, I think it saves the amount of stars you've accumulated until you beat the boss. So after practicing stage 2 for a while, I ended the stage with like 1.4 million stars total for a huge bonus. I don't think I did that well!

The bullet patterns in Novice Boost mode seem the same as the old Simple mode. And Novice Original feels like the old Original to me. Arcade Original feels harder than I remember.

I dont remember this text appearing on stage 5 before as well. Is it cause I was using Type-Z? This was on Original mode. It didn't appear when I used Type-Z on boost mode lol. What does it mean!

the game only has 4 extends now(assuming you even hit the last) and the 2nd TLB is pretty crazy even on Original

i seriously doubt many people will 1cc this outside of Novice

Nice score on Boost Type III budy, I'm chasing you

Althou I agree with you, there gonna be damage in the leaderboards with this version, a LOT harder than before, notm uch because of new patterns and slightly busier, but especially due to much less 1UP and lot smaller invincibility after break mode lauch and when it dies. Challenging game when you are used to the PC 1.01. Oh, and fucking damn suicide bullets

Wow these extends are brutal. I made it to Stage 4 midboss on Arcade Original and noticed that I had yet to still hit the second extend.

What does the restore power-up that the bosses drop do?

Unlimited is brutal. Can't believe how tough it is. Makes original seem so easy, can't go back to it.

Edit: I'd also like more info on the power ups.

I've noticed a "Rate Up Speed" indicator appearing under the star item counter in the top right corner at the beginning of stages. I wonder if it's related to the speed of Break Rate and Break Mode Gauge increase…?
mastermx wrote:Edit: I'd also like more info on the power ups.
(G) - +75% Break Mode Energy (greys out if you're in DBM)
(Recover) = reset Bomb Line to 20% of Break Mode Gauge
(☆) = gain stars towards score and Extends (at a value of 10,000 x stage number)
(1UP) = Extend item, only appears from midbosses when you're on 0 Extends remaining

I just compared Simple to Novice Original on stage 1. The patterns are similar. Those expanding ships don't shoot in either mode. But there are minor differences. The tank shoots quick medium red orbs in Simple, and slow small red bullets in Novice. The large ship shoots fast red orbs instead of three blue bullets. The turrets in the windows at the end actually shoot at you in Novice Original.

There might be some bigger differences on later stages. I'd expect it to be a little harder as a tradeoff for being able to use Break Mode. Plus you can control your rank in Simple by bombing.

Oh by the way, it seems like the folder structure for World Ignition is virtually the same as the original game, even down to the replay folder. The replay folder itself holds each saved run as individually numbered .replay files, so it looks like sharing these runs is quite easy. :3

The folder itself is at C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Crimzon Clover\replay

i'm curious about why all the japanese players play Type I, is the spread when breaking that much better?
Is it because less damage=more stars or something? Type III is really fucking strong and the speed doesn't even handicap you much on Boost.

Yup, my setup is 8.1, and it came up with no problems - not sure what the issue might be on your end.
Thanks, BulletMagnet! It appears that something got corrupt during the download process. I deleted my local files and re-installed it and it works now.

endoKarb wrote:Pretty bummed out that you cannot remap keyboard controls in-game. I need movement keys on the left side because of a shoulder injury.

The game itself looks solid as expected. I was happy to see all modes unlocked by default, the new ship type gives me a good feel as well.

Not sure how much I will be playing it though. Back when I was noob de noob I couldn't play anything that didn't feature screenwide multicolored explosions every two seconds, but now I find the screen clutter and the overall hyperness kinda annoying.

I guess I'll try and find a ship/mode combination that I like and I'll stick to that for now.

EDIT: Alt-tabbed out of the game from full-screen, now I can't get back in.
I like having the movement on the left side of the keyboard too.
Easiest way seems to be using autohotkey to remap the keys to what ever you want. IE "wasd"
It's not just this game either, a lot of games don't give you the option to remap the movement keys.

Just a hint to everyone.. There's a "verify integrity of game cache" option if you go to properties of some game. (Right click game name)
This should fix all corrupt files and download fresh ones.

The difference seems obvious on the 1.01 version, but I have to say that on the world ignition, i'm not too sure if Type I is better than the other Type (exepted Z), I guess it's a matter a feeling, I like my ship fast, I'm happy to play III even thou his shot is very narrow. Found Type I turtle slow for my liking so i never liked it. Not sure if it generates more stars than II or III. I'm not even sure that the milking technique we used to do on 1.01 is worth doing right now as you generate stars all the times (in break mode of Boost), even very far from enemies, while 1.01 you had to really get close to them and shot only.

Let's say that, even if Type I would be stronger in terms of scoring than II or III, I would still no play with it, as I just hate it.

III for boost or Z Unlimited for me !

Having trouble getting my HRAP EX-SE working like others.

Tried joy2key and xpadder mapping joystick inputs to the default keyboard controls and nothing is registering.

Playing now with my Mad Catz TvC stick via Mayflash Wii adapter and it's working perfectly.

shrugs?

Edit: Just tried my MC Cthulhu stick and directions are all messed up, I think someone else mentioned this.

Having a blast playing this again. It's fun to check out the leaderboards and see everyone's score progress. For about 5 minutes late last night, I was #10 on the Novice Original boards before better scores pushed me off. I shoulda took a screenshot, because that's never going to happen again now that people with actual skills are playing the game, lol. A lot of players in the top ranks are shmup forum members, which is to be expected since many of us have had a lot of time to practice the game already. I see a lot of names I don't recognize too, though. It really makes you wonder - what if there is some crazy legit dude (or lady) out there who's playing this game Day 1 and just sat down and busted out a crazy score just like that? "Crimzon Clover? It's okay I guess. Pretty easy game." Part of the excitement of a new leaderboard like this is discovering awesome new players who we would ordinarily never encounter.

Hope the boards don't get hacked anytime soon =P (although part of me says it's inevitable, given how hacked Jamestown's boards are).

You can still get a crapload of lives in Novice mode though.

Well, just 1cc'd the game in Novice using Type-I. Unlocked Type-Z so guess now it's time to conquer Time Attack.

Speaking of which, Time Attack is awesome.

I'm still not a fan of the new invincibility time and adjusted break mode but, well, you can still tear through everything with dat firepower.

I can't decide what mode to play :/ on one hand unlimited is a ton of fun, but it kicks my ass. And on the other original is more manageable. Is unlimited the equivalent to the second loop in this game.

If not, what replay should I look at for a route?

I enjoy Novice mode a lot because I can be really aggressive about point blanking enemies and building up breaks without getting punished too often. The harder difficulty of the Arcade mode relative to the original puts it a little out of my current skill level.

Regarding modes:

Novice
- Boost
- Original

Arcade
- Boost
- Original
- Unlimited
- Time Attack

4 ship types: I, II, III, and Z.

Also a training mode for any combination of the above.

I think that's all of them?

it's its own thing

i think hitting with a max lock is a full screen cancel (it was in the old version), which makes the entire game about timing cancels. i'm not at all into that sort of challenge. it's made for type-z but i think it's possible for other types to clear, though it's much harder
