Info on Raptor: COTS

Post by Damocles »

I have the shareware version, and was wondering if the full version is worth picking up. I enjoy the weapon upgrade system, oddly enough. How many levels are there? Is it more challenging later on? Yadda yadda yadda...... Really, any info.

Once you get to a certain point (auto target laser + most powerful weapon, some straight laser thing) things get kind of easy, and when you know there are no more cool weapons to try out the game loses some of it's appeal. I still keep the linux version around just because I'm trying to fill up every digit of the money thing. For $15 or so it's not bad as a distraction every now and then.

It's just more of the same really. If you really liked the shareware, consider the full version. It definitely won't amaze you any more or anything though.

I have a full version savegame somewhere approaching $300 mil. I think the game's nicely balanced if you play Elite without buying phase shields. That might even make a decent unusual 1CC if the game wasn't so long. 27 levels. Sector 3 can get mean without extra shields.

I have fun with Raptor, but it's kind of, maybe, low-intensity.

Unusual? That's my calling card. Low-intensity? Eh...after coming down from Shiki EX and Raiden Fighters Jet, that sounds good to me.

I don't know, but I never liked shops in shooters. They kind of slow down the gameplay in a way and Raptor is no exeption...

Carrier Airwing is one of rare exeptions since you buy the weapons on an aircarft carrier or refueling plane at the end of the level & uses a time-counter, thus not slowing down the fast pace of the game.
