Trace cutting

Post by EmperorZelos »

I been thinking on doing some mods and they require cutting traces on consoles, I am curious, is there a good way to test if a trace has been properly cut?

If you get one that beeps, set the multi-meter to continuity mode and put one lead on one end of the trace and the other lead on the other end. It will beep to tell you there is continuity (points are connected). Cut the trace, put the leads back and there should be no beep, if there is the trace needs to be cut deeper or they are connected by another point as well.

Mine does not beep nor have a continuity setting, just Resistence, Current, Voltage and temeprature strangely enough.

Are sure? It's usually indicated by a right arrow and a plus sign. If it does not beep then it will give an ohm reading. Mine will display a reading of "001" on the right side of the screen if there is continuity, if there is no continuity it will show a "1" on the left side of the screen.
