wyvern wings on a whim
After years of hearing about this game, I decided on a whim today to purchase it. So is this game going to be awesome or what? I do love most all things Psikyo, and this seemed pretty similar in spirit.
Thanks in advance for your discussion, which will no doubt get me psyched for some 2001 Korean shmupping.

Rofl I just did the same as well, I think we both must've been looking at the same auction, had it watched for a while, and took a snap when I noticed he was down to one left.
I remember playing it a bit in a previoius STGT, seemed fun.
Guess we both got something to look forward to

Yes! The board in the picture looked legit and like new. Glad to hear that someone here snatched up the last one. Seemed like a good deal to me.

I clicked on this thread because I was trying to do research on the game, I have been watching it since it went up. As I am reading I realized you were the guys who bought the auction I was watching hahah. Well good snatch and posts impressions =)

I was really surprised to get what looks like a new kit for such a low price. Glad to see that you got the same deal.
I've been meaning to check whether there's an autofire option. Often I don't mind a manual shot, but in this game it didn't feel right.

What are your impressions of the gameplay so far?
I do remember seeing these boards on eBay from the same seller that had a bunch. I was tempted as well, but never pulled the trigger, and now it looks like they have all been snagged.

It's pretty much like Psikyo packed up and moved to Korea, everything about this game screams Psikyo, the random batch of initial stages, the bullet patterns and overall graphical style. Only thing it's missing is a medal collecting system lolCrafty+Mech wrote:What are your impressions of the gameplay so far?

I'm just waiting for Wyvern Wings to arrive myself!
Looks very much like Psikyo / Strikers game to me, which is why I wanted it lol
Any more thoughts on how it plays? It's hardly going to be original, but that doesn't mean to say that it's not any good!

If it is any help, gamefaqs has it rated 2.5/5. I played it at one of the San Jose, CA retro game expos a few years ago and thought it was fun.

Yep, Wyvern Wings was available to check out at both 2003 & 2004 California Extreme shows courtesy of Sacramento Amusements. It definitely had that ol' Psikyo-vibe going on. At the '04 CAX show, a brand new WW jamma conversion pcb kit was for sale at $350.00 USD (including a full-sized marquee). I did consider mulling whether or not to get it but passed up on it. Eventually, saw that the eBay seller, Bill Burger, was selling such NOS of WW pcb kits on the cheap...snagged one at the $90.00 asking BIN price sometime back. The WW pcb kit that I recieved from Mr. Burger was, indeed, brand new. The only thing missing was the full-sized marquee (otherwise, it'd be complete).

Re: wyvern wings on a whim
i kinda like wyvern wings. basically a slower-paced psikyo... people wanted longer stages, right?!?!
well, it's better than what sengoku ace and gunbird have going on.drunkninja24 wrote:Only thing it's missing is a medal collecting system lol
