Is it possible i busted my unit switching the inputs to hi-z from 75ohm?

I'm really curious if i killed this bugger myself or it just died on me from age. Those extrons are supposed to be unbreakable?

Although, i found one pcb trace being bridged by a wire by someone, which indicates the device has been repaired before.

Arasoi wrote:I just got one of these but unfortunately missed this topic, and I have one of the units with the 9 pin CGA-esque input connector.

I checked the product manual for the unit and the pinout more or less matches old RGBI/CGA inputs, just without the intensity line.

I'm thinking that the following adapter should do the trick:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SVGA-VGA-HPDB15 ... 43c1643e50

It doesn't appear to be the type used for old NEC multisync PC CRTs, just a straight pin to pin so should work OK. (I already use a VGA extension cable for X-Select D4 DB15 out into Super Emotia DB15 female in)

I think the 203 would have been a better choice in hindsight, but maybe I can make the best of things. I'll report my findings here for posterity.
I hope this works. If it does, could you let us know? I tried something very similar coupled with a standard VGA extension cable but it didn't work for me :(

Just as a reminder: the Extrons used the Barco RGB pinout on their older machines:

There is some good info in here:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/95770/extron- ... -pin-cable

It looks like there were different DE9 pinouts:

http://www.nullmodem.com/DB-9.htm

If the connector uses the last one, it won't work.

Still, even with the right pinout, as you probably have read through the topic this still doesn't guarantee that it will work.

Might i ask what you need it for?

So, is there a readily available D-sub 15 to D-sub 9 adaptor that definitely works with the 202rxi that anyone has found?

There is no point in searching for a commercial one, when making one yourself is really a half hour job.

An official product won't give you any advantages over a DIY one. The problems above are due to those devices being a dick regarding the sync / input signals.

[EDIT]

Okay, that was a bad answer actually.

Long story short, there are official cables which seem unavaillable right now, as well as several cables / adapters from different companies which might / might now work.

In the end, you will probably spend more time / money making a cable yourself, than finding a working one online. Even if you find one, there is still a chance your device might not work and you won't even know if it's the fault of the device or the cable.

I'm overusing slashes a lot.

I have zero soldering skills sadly, I might be able to persuade the girlfriend I guess, but much easier if there's somewhere I can just buy a cheapy adaptor, but I guess not eh?

It's not lazyness it's that basically I'm artistically retarded/don't have a steady enough hand. I can barely produce legible handwriting let alone solder some bits of wires together

Sorry to necro the thread but, what was the actual pinout for the 202rxi in the end, was it this one? http://myhometheater.homestead.com/files/barcoport3.jpg

It now works completely different depending on what input i use. Input one now rarely syncs at all, even with sources tested before. I also have no blue output anymore. Input two doesn't have green output...

Sorry to necro this as well, but I've recently acquiered the RGB 201xi and can't get anything from the blue output. Any idea what happened on your side ? Anyone have a clue ?
