Watchdogs

Post by MOSQUITO FIGHTER »

Ok, so this game seems to be getting a lot of hype right now from. Anybody here picking this one up? Do you think it will be worth checking out? I'm finding that most of the recent games that I've played that don't have an razor sharp arcde style focus on gameplay to be dissappointing lately.

Don't even really know what it's about. Guess I skimmed over the previews. Looks like a Deus Ex clone?

Yeah, I was thinking that it's going to be a GTA type of thing but I don't know much about it either.

Thought it was in the vein of the old True Crime LA / NY games. I've only played a bit of the LA game.

However it turns out there's no way it'll live up to all the hype that's been built around it - I recall reading that Ubisoft's stock price dropped by a quarter when it was delayed a few months back (though it's since rebounded). Guess we'll find out how close it gets soon enough...

Here's what I know from looking at screen shots: it's an ugly game that I'll never play.

Assassin's Creed in the Future. I don't like at all. It was praised cause 2 years ago the build showed stunning visuals wich have been downgraded. The gameplay looks boring as hell. It's a meh game like almost all Ubi games.

The game has a review embargo. The only reason publishers have those is if they know that their game is a disappointment, and they want to have as many early sales as possible before people see the sub-par/negative reviews and rescind their purchases.

I was able to "get it" but I lost interest almost instantly. I even live in Chicago and thought that would grab me...

not really my type of game, but I don't think it will live up to the hype either.
#1 - it's ubisoft and they're titles typically flake. #2 - the game has been hyped to the moon since there's not much else to play atm on new consoles.

I think people will still find it enjoyable either way and there have been a decent amount of good impressions.
GAF has been pretty nuts with moderators banning users who are talking about the game but haven't posted proof that they actually bought it.

I'm not interested in Watch Dogs, with what I read about it. I'll probably be picking up Mario Kart 8 soon, though.

Heh I'm sure most voters didn't even play this. I'm enjoying it.

It sucked me in pretty quickly, which is rare. So far so good.

The artwork pimping this franchise reminds me of Dreamcast days. When it was all about some young, handsome fellows challenging The System™. Yo.

Considering how the game is just releasing, I think the poll should of asked who is getting the game. I find it frustrating that the game was toned down graphically on next gen systems compared to the E3 build. Not thrilled with the usual crap over the Wii U version either. It's like the early GCN support all over again.

I haven't followed the development, or any toning down of graphics.. but I'll say that they are beautiful on PS4. It looks quite amazing to me.

i played it on 360 round my mates house for 4 hours.. combat is even more horrible than gta ,the game looks like poo poo , terrible hacking mechanic (press x to hack lolz),i was driving a car and it started to drive backwards on its own  i could go on but i wont
then i looked at the reviews on steam for the pc version
i'd say 95%+ of the reviews on there are bad because apparently if you can even get in the game (not easy cos it uses youplay) then it wont work poperly with amd graphics cards..
so yeah don't buy this game.

Can you customise your character at all? In the future, are we not supposed to be suspicious of a bloke wearing a baseball cap and a flasher-mac?

I've heard that car chases are rubber banded so that you have to use hacking to "win", which sounds like a massive immersion breaker too.

Locked at 30 FPS on PS4 - first true next gen game, my arse!

A bomb squad was called to the Sydney offices of Ninemsn, a major Australian online publication, after the company received promotional material for Ubisoft's open-world title Watch Dogs in the guise of a beeping, black safe.

According to a Mumbrella story published today, the authorities were alerted yesterday afternoon after a small black safe was delivered to the offices. A "suspicious" letter instructing the recipient to "check your voicemail." accompanied the package. The safe began beeping when employees unsuccessfully tried to open it by entering an attached pin code. Staff on the floor were sent off for the day while bomb squad officers opened the safe in the basement to discover a copy Watch Dogs, the protagonist's iconic baseball cap, a beanie and an embargo reminder.
Hilarious.
