A long time ago I remember pestering Go0gley (the creator of Raiden X) on whether he was ever going to get Raiden X2 out the door, which considering the real life stuff that was happening at the time seemed unlikely. I forgot all about it until I was browsing Newgrounds for shmups and came across this game. The Newgrounds flash loaders don't want to work for me for some reason but the game has its own site anyway.
It's basically a Raiden-like with a vertizontal screen, but differs in a way that it's still its own game rather than an obvious tribute/ripoff. You have your red vulcan, a lightning cannon ala the blue laser and some kind of cross between Raiden III's Proton Beam and Raiden II's Plasma lock-on beam. I expected this game to be a piece of cake so I stuck it on Hard mode and promptly got my ass handed to me by the stage 2 boss.
Considering it's a free game made in Flash I'm actually quite impressed. Between this for manics and Udderdude's Zero Cross for bullet hells you don't really need to touch any other Flash games for shmups.
