BVM-20F1U setup problems
Hey everyone,
I can't seem to find much helpful information using google on how to get my BVM-20F1U calibrated but I did hear that this place would be the place to get some help.
I'm not sure if the problem is my cords or if the problem is the monitor itself and that it can just be solved by fixing the settings on the monitor.
I guess I should describe my setup first. I also recorded what it looks like.
I have a Shinybow SB-5525 with 3 Scart inputs. A SNES, PS1, and Saturn are hooked in. And for output I have a breakout Scart to BNC hooked up to the monitor. And the the other output I have an extension cable hooked up to a Scart to HDMI converter and then HDMI to my PEXHDCAP capture card. I know this isn't ideal for the PEXHDCAP so I've already ordered a Sync Strike to replace it with.
The capturing is fine though. There are no problems with the quality of video. It works as it should. The TV however gives a really choppy and bad picture. So that leaves the problem being either the BNC breakout cord or the monitor itself.
Here are the vids:

I would really appreciate any help. Thanks!

The monitor doesn't sync at all. Do you have the sync set to the EXT.sync instead of internal ? Also you should terminate the loop outputs (that's the BNC plugs under each of your inputs).

Thanks for the reply Fudoh.
I have sync mode set to INT. Looks like you're right. No sync. I unplugged my sync connector and nothing happened at all. So its definitely the problem. I looked at the manual to see how to terminate the loop outputs and it said to connect a 75-ohm terminator to the OUT connectors. Guess I'm going to need to order a bunch of those. Luckily they're super cheap. Do you think if I terminate the loop outputs that will fix the problem? I wonder if the sync connection with my breakout cord is the problem.

Re: BVM-20F1U setup problems
and you switched from INT sync to EXT. sync in the menu ? Also the input signal is set to RGB instead of YPbPr ?
Does your breakout cable have the right direction ? The RGB pins are identical for both directions, but the sync pin is different wether you have a Scart to BNC or a BNC to Scart cable.

I've tried switching from IN sync to EXT. And ya I do have it on RGB. the results are different but both bad. Here's an example:

And heres a pic of the pins. Sync looks identical to the RGB pins to me.

Check the direction of your breakout cable. Whenever people buy breakout cables with MALE Scart connectors, they're prone to get the wrong direction. Your sync needs to be wired to pin 19 of the Scart cable, not pin 20.

I opened it up. Looks like sync is in pin 20. Do I change it myself? Or do I get new one?

If you can (as in you got a soldering iron), change it yourself. Just remove the cable from pin 20 and solder it to pin 19 instead. Should be enough and fix your problem.

Ah ok. I have a buddy with a soldering iron so I'm going to try and get that done with him. Do you think I've caused any damage to anything having run power through the machines with a pinout like that?

no, you connected an input to an input, so both sides were expecting a signal, but none send any.

Hey Fudoh.
Thanks for the information. I got it soldered to the correct pin and now it works amazingly well! It looks great. Thankyou so much!
