Canadian in London -- gamer things to check out?

Post by opt2not »

My wife and I are heading to London soon, for the first time, and will have some time to look around the city after all our sightseeing.
I was hoping to get some info from you fine folks as to what gamer friendly things to check out in the city. I'm looking for recommendations for Arcades or Barcades (if you guys have any there) to visit, or perhaps markets where I can find retro games etc, or any sites or places gamers would be interested in general.

Also, I'm hoping to come home with a good SCART switcher that can handle at least 4 inputs and can output to 2 displays, like a Shinybow or Keene Commander. Are there places that sell these there, or are they just generally hard to come by?

I appreciate the info! Thanks!

Sadly, there isn't much anymore...most of the cool import shops closed down years ago and the arcades are all but dead. The only things you'll probably see are the odd driving game and light gun games.I'm not to sure if namco wonder park is still going? I'm sure someone will come on and mention hog (heart of gaming) in north acton I think,I've never been there so can't comment but I know some of the London boys meet there when they can.sorry,it's not great news...

The HOG is great! Maybe not amazing for shmups but for fighting games it's pretty cool though it helps to turn up on the right day, when they have some kind of event happening. I recommend looking at their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/TheHeartOfGaming?fref=ts and making contact with the HOG dudes to find out what's going on.
