Friends, I've managed to put my hands on 3 Sony BVM 20G1U, 20 inches model.
They all have problems on the E board, the deflection board.
Swapping those boards will also swap the problems, so it's for sure the deflection board.
1. Has unstable image, it will shake all the time, even after several hours of use.
2. Won't start at all.
3. The image is centered, much like the 16:9 option but it's disabled. Even with V size at 255 the image won't open vertically.
So after a long time I found a guy that had for sale 3! deflection boards. All of them tested, according to the seller.
Tried all 3 on all my BVM monitors.
They all have centered image. It won't open vertically.
So now I have 4 boards that won't open in V size.
Measures I've already tried:
Factory reset of system settings.
Factory reset choosing SDI, choosing video amp and choosing deflection.
Remoed the battery on the remote board.
To me it's kind of unlikely to get 4 boards with the same issue and since the board that shakes opens it in V, I'm led to believe it's not my monitors.
Any idea? This seems like some sort of menu setting that will fix it all but I've wasted 5+ hours checking the menus with no success.

Re: Sony BVM 20G1U - Vertical issues
Still trying to fix this.
Does anyone knows how to access the service menu on the BVM 20G1U?
I've tried the Menu and pressing degauss+enter with no success.
Does one know how to acess it?

Re: Sony BVM 20G1U - Vertical issues
I have the BVM G too. The service menu has two sections, the area where you have an "extend" option when going in try passwords 1111, 9999 or alternatively if those don't work due to the former user changing them there is another password I got from Sony which I no longer have but I wrote it down in the Fudoh's BVM thread some pages ago.
In the Extend menu you can factory reset various parts. The second menu is simply in the "Maintenance" area and should use the same password. There you get all the geometry and convergence settings and more.
For the one where the Vertical doesn't open, couldn't that be a transistor issue maybe? The one that doesn't start at all maybe a dead capacitor?
By the way out of curiosity how many hours of operation has each of these had?
