"Sega’s re-releasing the Dreamcast in Japan?

Sega’s not flapping their yapper so far as we can tell, but German gaming site Gamefront.de is claiming they’re going to be re-releasing the frickin’ Dreamcast bundled with Radilgy and some limited edition telephone card or something. But our wish come true from the Ghost of Hackable Consoles Past will probably be Japan-only though, distributed through Sega Direct for ¥10,000 (about $83 US) — still, could this be the triumphant return of Sega hardware, even if only just nostalgia-gear? Apparently we’ll find out February 16th (or sooner)."

Pretty sweet if true - I'd get the DC over any of the next-gen consoles any day of the week.

They're just selling off deadcasts that still haven't sold. Dreamcast gets 'rereleased' every few months in Japan.

Wonder whether they'll ever sell all of them.

Makes you wish gaming news sites would hire someone that can read Japanese rather than run something through babblefish. This is about the 5th board I've seen have a "dreamcast rerelease!" thread, and of course, someone soonafter shoot it down.

It would be interesting to get weekly sales figures for the Dreamcast re-release and compare them against JP Xbox and Xbox 360.

It's amazing, the xbox is already officially not supported by Microsoft anymore, but the DC still lives. WOW!

They should make the system smaller at this point. Or something.

Microsoft should've integrated that chip into their "core" systems. That... would've been interesting.

Definitely not your fault -- I blame people that report it as big news. If they would keep up w/ Sega Direct, and actually read a little bit. It wasn't a big secret that it was refurbished units.
