Definitely. Would rather see Gradius Deluxe Pack released than Gradius V too. Gradius V is such an overrated yawnathon.

All PS2 games that use CDs instead of DVDs are like this. I'm just impressed that the game fits on a CD.

I know I'm going to come off as negative but I really wished they would release Gradius Gaiden or Salamander Collection on PSN instead of Gradius V. Both Gaiden and Salamander 2 have yet to see a proper Western release so I think it's a fair thing to mention.

Gaiden is on Gradius Collection, although Collection being a compilation diluted its attention.

The Collection version doesn't feature the cooperative play which is a first for the Gradius series (not counting the Life Force/Salamander spinoffs...kinda of ironic since Gaiden IS a side story lol) and I found that to be a big deal back in the day. It gave the game a new dynamic especially on higher loops.

Super-late response, but yes, I just realized that >: A console port or PC port would be nice in that regard. Playing some shooting games 2-player is surprisingly fun, especially with someone who also knows what they're doing.

Plus, Collection is OOP now, so American fans missed their chance to appreciate one of the finest other games in the series.

Konami pretty much disowned Gradius, Like A Redheaded Stepchild™. The only thing they care to do with it anymore is a dull otome spinoff series, a pachislot adaptation, and remixes in BEMANI games.

Wait, am I the only one who'd experiencing serious button input lag for PS2 PSN games? Or does this only apply to Raiden 3 PSN? As it's the only PS2 PSN game I have. But it reminded me of the epsxe2 emulator lag (and yes, tried reduce input delay setting too. Still no good), which is making me guess this is an emulation thing? And why I seek to purchase all PS2 shmups now.

Would like to know for sure, as I'd love to buy this game again to spare my disc spinning thingy from wear & tear.

It's laggy because you are playing it on a modern tv. It has something to do with the refresh rate of the hertz I think. I should find a CRT TV for all of my old games but they weigh a ton. Wish there was a different solution.

I really tried to like LoS, but it hurts to watch as your favourite series loses its soul; it's distinct creative personality and continue to live on as an empty shell, masquerading as something it used to be.

Lords of Shadow was never meant to be a Castlevania game, until Kojima stepped in and said that it should be.

I recall reading about that too. Kojima/Konami saw a demo of the game and hired up Mercury Steam to make it into Castlevania. Personally, I loved the game, the series needed a reboot after the DS games became stale. Shame about Mirror of Fate and LoS2.

Call me crazy, but the Ds games weren't becoming stale. Dawn of Sorrow is probably one of the best Metroidvania's ever made, and the two following games were attempting to switch up the formula massively by incorporating classic style level designs and platforming with exploration...except they did an awful job of it and mistook "level design" for "a bunch of corridors with enemies". Still though, I think there was more room to explore and develop that particular gameplay style had they spent more time developing it.

But moving slightly back on topic, does anyone else think the name Gradius carries more weight/is well known in the west than most other shmup franchises? I mean i've seen quite a few huge youtube channels mention it casually or sometimes even play one of the older ones. The biggest example (love 'em or hate 'em) would be the game grumps.

I just think a new Gradius would get more attention here than people think. Especially if it's marketed as part of an enduring legacy.

I have to agree, Gradius and R-Type are probably the most well known shmup franchises in existence. It's like the shmup equivalent of bringing up Contra for run and gun shooters or Mario for platformers.

If it does happens, it'll probably just be a straight emulation. Which they will later port to Steam.

Thankfully Gradius V still plays perfectly on PCSX2.

Heck, maybe we could get Deluxe Pack on GOG.com...

If I recall correctly, it was pseudo-confirmed on NeoGAF by a Konami rep. Gotta keep in mind that the PS2 classics release window works sort of like a FIFO queue. For example, Atlus has been releasing most of their PS2 catalog this year and almost every month we get a new game. Apparently they submitted them all to Sony a while ago, but it had to pass some Q&A in order for them to be released. My guess is that Sony must make sure that PS2 classics work on the 3 PS3 models and their manpower devoted to that task is very low.

Honestly, I'd double-dip if it were a proper port, with trophies and such.

But as an emulated game, there's no real reason to buy it if you have a legit copy already, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this thinking.
