rancor wrote: Help what? That it's not a secret? That it's easily found out with 30 seconds of research?
Why would someone do that research if he didn't know in the first place
rancor wrote: He hasn't told me or anyone else I know that this is a Clark Kent / Superman masquerade. Where did you get this information?
If he doesn't mention about it ANYWHERE on his webpages or games, don't you think that it could mean something? Also read:
Cagar wrote: Funkily I also remember that someone had to make sure that some french gaming magazine doesn't mention him related to crimzon clover- requested by the guy himself
rancor wrote: No thanks.
Welp, own choice.
What are you expecting from someone who wants to keep it a secret? He has had very, very low profile about it, basically he has started saying something related to it himself.
Do you expect him to post "Guys i'm this famous player btw but please don't tell anyone!!!" on his blog or something?
The best way for someone to keep a secret like that is just to keep low profile. He didn't have much choice at those interview questions at last stunfest, for example. And if he told Icarus (iirc) to make sure that the French magazine doesn't include it in their article, then I guess something is obvious.
What reason do we even have to mention it, other than "spread the word"? Can't yotsubane stay yotsubane? Why are people using the other name straight away, even when they know it's the same guy?
I didn't expect this discussion to blow up, but hey, welcome to the circus

Well who cares if the guy didn't want the public to know he shouldn't have made it so easy for people to guess.

I mean yotsuba means clover, and several people Japanese or not knew he was behind the game since C79 (iirc)... our little world has been aware for (almost) five years for bezebuth's sake.

So what ?
It's not like crowds of fans and paparazzi have been stalking him since then and it is unlikely that it will ever happen.
He's not Zun doing stuff for gender-confused otakus.

Tac told me : Secret, secret
Then I have to make sure that the journalist is not going to include this on her paper ;)
No problem when I said to the journalist that Kamui is a hair cuter and also a programmer, she appreciated that people are interested in her life, no secret for her
Sorry I thought that it was you who said this, probably because you replied to me right in the next post.
which is why I used the "iirc" - i was not sure.

Well at least you somewhat agree with me on the subject.

While he did come down to the shooting game section on occasion to play games and chat with us, and I saw him a few times wandering around the event with the others, I didn't see him nearly as often as I saw NAK and KAMUI.

Hi Cagar

Firstly I commend your cool headedness.

Tbh I don't know if he wants to keep it a secret or not. I haven't really looked into the matter. However I think censoring information on the Internet is futile anyway. And it would be tough to convince everyone that they have a moral obligation to be secretive with info.

Aside from the debate around developer identity, glad to see that there seems to be growing positivity and enthusiasm about the release.

Oh - and Elixir. Where's that date confirmed? (Not questioning it! Just keen to see any source for new info so I can keep an eye on it!)

About time to get a solid (the best, i mean) shmup on steam!

pretty exciting stuff. I don't own a single shmup on steam, but this one will definitely make it's way into my library ^_^

still was hoping for some treasure news outside of the 10th console port of their already ported backlog.

Steam is becoming more and more interesting for shmupers. There are already a few gems in the store.

This is really great news! I hope the trend continues! :D

Just checked and could not make anything out about that. It says it MIGHT be released as soon as May, and that's about it. No specific date. Also he thanked Icarus for tweeting about the Stunfest announcement :)

Yeah he says it might be may. It seems like he's not too certain. Would love it if he actually manages to get it out in that time though :)

Hmm, I wonder whether CCWI will have to go through the greenlighting process on steam like eekahrooga did. I guess no info on this yet too?

I don't think so. Treasure had to go through Greenlight because they were self-publishing, but if you go with an established Steam publisher you can bypass all that bullshit. It's part of why the Volgarr devs ended up signing with Adult Swim, for instance.

CC is being published by a company called Degica, and they seem fairly well-established:

Good to hear, thanks for this info. Would have been a PITA to wait until it would have been greenlit (with the possibility of not being greenlit at all.)

Makes the waiting a bit easier. :)

Really looking forward to this release, always wanted to try the NESiCA port since its release last year, especially the new Time-Attack Mode.
Also wonder if there'll be another release for the game's OST since it now has a complete Unlimited Mode BGM, with stage 3's theme being revamped, along with Time-Attack Mode's BGM.

From what ive read, the game is supposed to release on Steam this month, am I right? Ive been scouring the greenlight area on my Steam Hub thingy and I haven't seen CCWI mentioned at all. What gives? Might as well start hyping the game publically.

steam has nothing to do with japan, despite the crazies
j360 has nothing to do with america or europe, despite the importers

they cater to completely different markets. since this game is supposed to be a worldwide product, there should be both. i don't think people are getting the "world ignition" part or the "99% chance of a physical release" part or even the "one still isn't out in japan yet and physical pc releases outside of comiket aren't really a thing" part

A great point. If Crimson Clover's coming accessibility were to see the game serve as a new ambassador for the genre
Not sure about this -- isn't the NESiCA version supposed to be vastly more difficult, and skilled players were struggling to get past stage 3 or 4 when it came out? I hope a mode that preserves the flavor of the doujin version's Original mode is included, as it had unusually strong balance/difficulty scaling built in. It looks like this upcoming release, if it includes a Novice mode, may be more about choosing between one extreme or the other...

it is indeed a lot mode difficult, not much into the patterns etc... (Boost mode is like Simple mode, with slighty busier patterns, but as you are constantly in Break mode, it goes very, very, VERY fast...) - the main difference in the gameplay is that your invincibility during Break mode launch and after Breaks is 2 if not 3 times shorter than it used to be. And this will makes a lot more hard indeed. It seems also that Type Z recover your bomb bar slightly slower than before as well.

That's my impression while I was playing it during my stay in Tokyolast year.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that there is much less 1up as well, they don't show up at every end of stages like in the first version. (some shows up in the middle of a stage)

I absolutely take your points. But then – love it, hate it or otherwise – Ikaruga wasn't easy, and certainly serves as a genre ambassador and gateway shmup.

I'd certainly warm more to the NESiCA version. But it does sound like it would be all the better if the original version was included too.

CC original version should be included, seriously. Maybe a version with the nesica ports slightly better graphics, but with the doujin CC gameplay...

Could win over quite some fans, I guess.
