A recording of "It Don't Mean a Thing if it Ain't Got That Swing" for big band that I played on a couple of years ago and just got the final mix today:

Re: Your new music thread **formerly 'Music Production Threa
a group called Phantogram is having a remix contest for their single. here's my entry ---> https://soundcloud.com/options/fall-in- ... ath-option
I usually work with samples, so remixing non-Hip Hop stuff is a good way for me to "expand my horizons," so to speak.
(tho it's kinda ironic in this case since the original song is full of samples, haha)

cool stuff man - that's why I made the render like that

I've never actively listened to stuff like this, but I'm surprised at how much of it I kinda "recognize." perhaps it's just the feel of that era that seems so familiar to me.Raytrace wrote:https://soundcloud.com/raytrace/raytrace-distant-echoes

Still messing with YM2612, just released a new compilation in my FM Series called "Mind Of Machine".
http://tomy.bandcamp.com/album/fm-serie ... of-machine
It's a collection of tracks from the last 7 months or so I've done. Melodic chipmusic from the hardware.

yeah some of it would definitely be pretty famous; 'Higher States' (though unfortunately the crappy 4/4 remix of it is way more famous these days I think), 'Wrote For Luck' and 'Circus Bells' were definitely played a lot in their time.options wrote:I've never actively listened to stuff like this, but I'm surprised at how much of it I kinda "recognize." perhaps it's just the feel of that era that seems so familiar to me.Raytrace wrote:https://soundcloud.com/raytrace/raytrace-distant-echoes

I've come into some cash finally, and I wanna buy some proper headphones for producing music. Should I go for:
AKG by Harman K242HD or Sennheiser HD 598? I'm also thinking about buying the Asus Xonar Essence One to use as an ASIO sound card with my laptop + as a headphone amplifier. I don't need audio inputs on the sound card, really, as I'm only making electronic music.
I'd rather go with a set of active studio monitors, but I don't have the room to set that up, so I thought I would treat myself to a nice set of headphones. For now.

more electronic stuff has been seeping into my tracks these days.
*also: a buddy of mine also uses the Beyer Dynamic DT 990s. I only tried 'em once or twice, but I really liked them.

Yes.
They've acknowledged there's no infringement now, guess it got caught in a bot scan. There's zero resemblance between the tracks!

What's your budget on headphones? You probably can get good/great headphones around $100 like the Audio Technica ATH-M50, which is a superb monitor hi-fi.emphatic wrote:I've come into some cash finally, and I wanna buy some proper headphones for producing music. Should I go for:

I got this package today:

ASUS Xonar Essence One (DAC) + AKG K242 HD.
The latency is 28ms when using 48khz/24bit sound out. I haven't experimented with other settings yet, but latency doesn't matter when you're mixing/arranging. The sound is excellent.

Hello Shmups-Community!
Alright, this is gonne be one hell of a beginner post but I think I'm in the right thread at least.
I have no musical experience at all, the only instrument I have is an acoustic guitar that is standing in the corner for years now and is collecting dust.
For some years now I've gone from various metal genres to the more electronic world of music and for quite some time now I'm thinking about getting into music-production, you know, as a creative hobby. As I said I have no experience whatsoever so when I listen to songs like this or that one I feel that I'm liking them, I can somewhat get into the rhythm but I couldn't tell for example what hardware was used in the song.
Can you recommend me any ressources on how to "get into" electronic music? In terms of what hardware is available, how to get started, essential albums or good communities?
Thank you very much in advance!
Greetings
