Shmuproom on Deviant Art

Post by buko-studios »

I hope you guys will forgive the blatant promotion..
We run a group on DeviantArt dedicated to Shmups.
http://shmuproom.deviantart.com/

It is mostly artists on there, but it would be great to also get some developers and players join the group.

Right now we are slowly growing, perhaps a new member a week.
There is a variety of pixel art in there, and a few flash games.
The group is free to join and we'll showcase anything we think the community want to see.

Feel free to pop in and check it out.

We have our own shmup in development that we hope to reveal in the next couple of months. We are also keen to connect with potential collaborators for new shmup projects.
Here are a few graphics created by us..

Ditto. Good to see deviantART actually has a thing for it. I dont use my account for much but might start now. :P

EDIT: Clearly I don't know how to use deviantART. Say I want to put some projects down for approval to advertise or stick in the Development gallery, what do I do/who do I contact?

Thanks for the support guys, and welcome to the group!

DeviantArt itself can be a bit limited.
When the time is right we may upgrade to a "Super Group" which would give us a few more options.

However, it is as good a place as any for now to build some activity (for free) with a pretty intuitive interface and some nice gadgets.
Its always nice to be in an environment surrounded by shmup related visuals.

Any graphics or posts you submit to your own account on Deviant art, can also be "submitted" to the Shmuproom.
It will be approved automatically, then a moderator will put it in the relevant folder. Typically posts will first go to the Featured folder, then later put into one of the other categories.

pm us if you want to contribute (or moderate) the group directly.
If you have shmup related content on a deviant art journal we are happy to link to that too.

If you are looking for artwork for your projects you could contact members directly.
We ourselves also offer graphics services at competitive rates.

So to be clear. The deviant art group is not a substitute for the likes of these forums, but as it grows we hope to encourage new shmup development and use it to connect developers with players.

I'd suggest starting by getting yourselves some swish avatars and submitting some info on your projects or goals.
Best,

Congratulations on putting a Shmup Group together on Deviant Art.

I can see that this will be a useful resource for many Shmup Developers and that includes our group working on the SEGA Megadrive.
