Qanba Q2 Confirmation and Mod - LS-56/58 (?)

Post by Mako »

Hi gang,
So I've decided to go with the Qanba Q2 LED as my very first arcade stick. I love all the lights! :) This thread addresses several questions. I was doing some research and saw on the eightarc website, the Q2 is listed as having a Qanba LED joystick while other models like the Q4s have Sanwa JLF joysticks.
I've read reviews that seem to point that all Eightarc products use sanwa parts, and the listed Qanba parts are nearly identical to them. I was curious if an owner could confirm this. If it is a sanwa stick in the Q2, I'm thinking about modding it to install a Semitsu LS-56 later down the road (as that seems to be the stick of choice among shmups fans). However, I would like to keep the clear/blue theme if i use a different stick, and the LS-58 seems to be the only stick that offers it. How different are these two models? I've read that the 58 has a softer spring, but is more similar to the 55 than the 56.
shmuppyLove answered an early topic and gave me a link to a guide. The 55 and 56 are listed, but not the 58. I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible before I start dropping more money and what not.
Thanks!

As far as I know the LS-56 is the same thing as a 58 which the following two differences: 58 has a softer spring and a clear/skeleton colored dust-washer and shaft-cover, along with a bubble top.

While I can't answer your question about the difference between the two, I can say that I have a Qanba Q2 with a 58 in it & I love it for shmups. I ordered mine off Arcade Shock.
