Anyway, I shall see how it runs at the next three days. I'm eager to play mushihimesama really xD

If anyone gets a chance to talk to WTN, if you can convince him to upload his 84m donpachi video, YOU get $200. They are part of my 2014 Marp bounties:

Could someone find out for me what time the venue closes as I get in around 6pm tonight. Thanks
Re: Stunfest 2014 : Dates and Japanese guests !
Some stream caps for the shmups are already up, this is good since I totally missed the streams

Re: Stunfest 2014 : Dates and Japanese guests !
So then.
First, a picture of swag.
Second, I've been posting Vines (6sec video clips on Twitter) and photographs from the venue on my Twitter. Will continue to post snippets throughout the weekend.
And a summary.
1. Thanks for taking us on a scenic route to the venue from the breakfast cafe, endokarb. Quite literally the scenic route. :3
2. Venue is seriously huge compared to last year - this year we take up two floors of a venue that is twice the size of last years (which was only one floor), and the shmups section is as big as the whole of last year's venue, seriously awesome.
3. Been chatting to a load of people from everywhere. Our small group (myself, Smraedis, spadgy, CHI, DEL, Plasmo and ptoing) are joined by a bunch of the French community including Yom, HUmar, Isobel_, lerebours, SGN, and a bunch more that I can't remember at this time. Really big contingent of shmuppers down this year. Also, Erhune and his lovely wife Keiko, adversity1, and our awesome and friendly Japanese guests.
4. We have about eight cabs all to ourselves, along with a bunch of consoles playing assorted shmups including the demo of Bullet Soul Infinite Burst, a G.Darius ver.2 board, and a bunch of other stuff.
5. There was some initial issues with the secondary stage for the other shmups demonstrations, including my run (Plasmo has some region issues with the Dreamcasts they have that they're fixing for tomorrow), which we eventually managed to solve by outputting my Mac's video via HDMI to a projector. While the run wasn't streamed live, I was happy with being able to put down a 7551oku ALL (Lx6) run in front of a really big crowd. (Especially after stressing over it all morning.)
6. Met up with Eaglet at around 4pm and promptly got into a scoring competition with him and Plasmo on Garegga…
7. … after getting into a Bakraid competition with Smraedis earlier in the afternoon.
8. WTN's run was boss, really unlucky end to the run though. Looking forward to his second run later in the weekend.
9. Hattori's dualplay was a thing of beauty.
10. Really good chats with adversity1 about Japanese gaming, and with Erhune about loads of other stuff.
11. And we got SPS to play Garegga since he had a really good score with Gain in the past. That was entertainment at its best. (We saw him do some pretty awesome scoring in Batrider earlier as well.)
12. DEL sets a new MMP Manpuku Mode WR! Congrats man!
13. Eaglet, Plasmo, ptoing, DEL, CHi, Smraedis and I pop out for a midnight snack and bump into Ryan Hart, Justin Wong and a small fighting game contingent in the takeaway we eat in. A good chat is had by all.
Since the venue is about two minutes from our hotel this time, we can stay for longer. Venue is open until 1am on Fri, 3am on Sat and 8pm on Sun, so we can play for much longer. Looking forward to tomorrow.
Replays and photo collections won't be posted until I get back to a decent internet connection.

Quoting Prom's stream schedule for the new page.
I believe Plasmo and DEL will be playing today, but I'm not sure if they'll be on stream? Hopefully!

Lots of other things to see on stream as well, hoping to set up streaming of the shmup.com stage as well where you would see Eaglet, Icarus, DEL, Plasmo and Smraedis perform and lots of others!
Superplaylive streaming also will feature PuyoXTetris & Puyo puyo Tsu with Kan, Hattori, as well as speedruns including Cosmo performing!
We are holding the secret power of shmups.
Re: Stunfest 2014 : Dates and Japanese guests !
Massively enjoying watching my first Stunfest from over here in the UK. Very impressed with the size and scope of the event. Was watching the stream on the sly at work yesterday, so nice to see DDP bullets pouring all over my work monitor
That Ikaruga doubleplay is amazing, you need to watch it if you haven't yet- superhuman stuff!
Holding tight for Ketsui in a couple hours...
Vachement cool.

The summary sounds awesome, hope there's some video of the Bakraid stuff, I'd love to see it.
Ketsui is up, great stuff in the run, never seen the first boss handled so well, I think I finally understand the design of it

edit: oh man, it was so great to hear the announcers hyping up the game and explaining everything "une erreur et le loop c'est perdu!!!!", and of course "HO LO LO LO" was back in full force , the expression they kept insisting on was interesting too, "metrize/metrization", something related to the player's skill at navigating bullets

Re: Stunfest 2014 : Dates and Japanese guests !
The SPS Ura 2-ALL of Ketsui just now was staggering. Huge roars and applause from the crowd. A great demo of the potential of shmups to rival fighters as crowd pleasers at events. So much fun and excitement. While a calmer affair, Hattori's Ikaruga doubleplay 1CC yesterday was insane too.
I'm off straight to Poland for work after Stunfest (such a professional, vast, enthusiastic and friendly event, that gives shmups loads of space and attention), but after that, I'll upload my photos, videos etc.).
Been so cool to hang out with JWS, smraedis, CHI, DEL, Icarus, ptoing, plasmo, PROMETHEOUS, EndoKarb, nuskool, adversity1, eaglet and all the rest, and we're only half way through!

Re: Stunfest 2014 : Dates and Japanese guests !
And now... props to DEL for his run on the event's main stage... MMP Manpuku to 2-3. He's done better before (setting a new Manpuku WR off-stage, earlier at Stunfest), but to an audience of 300+ (a rough count by me) it was damn impressive, and a roller coaster of a crowd-pleasing run of drama, highs, lows, and dramatic turnarounds.
Re: Stunfest 2014 : Dates and Japanese guests !
So, day two. 16hrs of festival goodness (currently typing this at 2.40am local time).
1. Some hilarious discussion topics over breakfast with DEL, Plasmo and ptoing, including (according to ptoing) how awesome Vlad the Impaler is. :3
2. Arriving early to find WTN 2-ALLing DDP for practice, and SPS ripping Ketsui Omote to shreds.
3. Oh hey, Garegga is permanently in one of the cabs. A good excuse for myself, Plasmo and Eaglet to take it over.
4. A really excellent demonstration of Ikaruga by Plasmo, ending with 29.5mil. Good stuff!
5. SPS restarting after a small cock-up in 1-2…
6. … and getting even worse luck with one of the Extend carriers in 1-5 flying off the screen…
7. … but putting on a real show by NO-MISSING DOOM!
8. I set a Garegga 12.1mil Bornnam score to st7 on my third run, and over the course of the evening, relax and watch as Eaglet and Plasmo commandeer the Garegga cab to try and beat it.
9. … it lasted seven hours, as I only found Plasmo beat it by a mil after I came back from dinner.
10. Speaking of food, had a really nice chat over Subway with Prometheus and adversity1, coming up with theories about the true identity of a particularly enigmatic MMP player on our forums. :>
11. Had an even more awesomer (and hilariously posh) dinner with a bunch of peeps from the French forum that run the Coin-Op Legacy game center. Really cool peeps that invited DEL, CHI and I out for good grub.
12. SOF-WTN's DDP run was really good, but there was some pressure there that caused a number of small mistakes. Still a really competent 2-ALL for the viewers (and there were many of them).
13. After a week of continuous complaining and stressing, DEL's MMP Manpuku Mode run ended up being a real crowd-pleaser. spadgy did a quick count of the crowd at around the stage 1-4 mark, and it had grown to 300+. DEL, the international celebrity. :3
14. YOM stressing over his demonstration run, yet setting a new PB of 417mil during practice.
15. Seeing Eaglet really getting in the practice.
16. New announcement for Crimzon Clover! Woooooooo! ( thanks for keeping it a secret from me, adversity1 and spadgy, you gits. :> )
17. Good chats with a number of the international contingent.
18. BOS ripping up Dragon Blaze. A number of st2-4 runs, great to watch.
The only blip in a really great weekend so far is the problems with the shmups demonstrations. So far we've had myself (unstreamed), Plasmo (unstreamed?) and DEL (livestreamed) but there has been scheduling issues (conflicts with the fighting game tournaments etc) and equipment issues all weekend, which has thrown the main schedule completely out of whack. Lots of rescheduling going on, and some runs might not even happen. Otherwise, no complaints about the actual organisation of the whole event, really great stuff.

Re: Stunfest 2014 : Dates and Japanese guests !
So last night I restreamed the Ketsui run live to give some English commentary since the official English commentary stream was down for basically the entire run. I wouldn't have posted about this in here (since it was kind of ghetto), but I've gotten some very favorable reactions, including a couple people who claimed that my commentary was better than the official French (!?).
You can watch an export of my broadcast here (apologies for the low quality video; I have bad up speed sometimes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDJfyzuFM_M
I'm going to try to do this again for the Sunday Ikaruga and Ketsui runs. I won't be able to do those live, unfortunately. But I will base it off of the runs after they've been uploaded to the archive. If anyone wants to watch and all goes as planned, it will be on my twitch.tv channel: http://www.twitch.tv/softdrink_117

Re: Stunfest 2014 : Dates and Japanese guests !
Another thing that's been great here is having SPS, Hattori and SOF-WTN join us in the public area watching and playing shmups at the bank of shmup-dedicated cabs. It's really nice that they've been mixing with us, and that we've got to watch over their shoulders as they destroy games.
And Smraedis just did a great G Darius clear on stage, and worked the crowd at the same time. Apart from his run, the best bit was his 'hi mum!' as he gave closing comments over the mic on stage. What a legend!

One of our French finest player, he's an expert on Akai Katana (arcade mode) and so I guess the 417 mil was on this game.

Re: Stunfest 2014 : Dates and Japanese guests !
SPS' Doom run from yesterday was so electrifying. Absolutley my favourite experience of being an audience member t live gaming. Shmups warrant more play to crowds; SPS' run had the audience just as wild as with any fighting game clash I've seen.BIL wrote:Man, that sounds amazing.
