Uncorrectable geometry issues with BVM

Post by Taiyaki »

Has anyone had any experience of the width of the vertical lines being uneven on the sides? I've been looking all over the web for a name or proper way to describe this issue but couldnt find any.

The first third of the screen on the left, going from right to left picture gets thinner in width before expanding. On a crosshatch the problem is clearly noticeable but nothing dramatic but in actual scenes where things move it can be very distracting even head ache inducing at times.

I've tried to adjust to live with it but the problem persistently stands out.

I found this item on ebay which in appearance would seem to have a similar problem (although it might just be the picture), this is helpful in describing the problem.

If that picture were my tv, the yellow line would be slightly more reduced in width and the white line on the complete left streched out more.
No ammount of H linearity or H lin bal can fix this.

Is this something that can be fixed on the inside or is the crt ready to retire? :(

I tried taking a picture but it didn't show the flaw as clearly as in motion. I'll try taking a video tomorrow.
