I would like to see the next gen of shmups move away from the trend towards ridiculous screen filling antics with shots/explosions/bonus tokens constantly obscuring the game underneath. If the sprite work and backgrounds are beautiful, let people see them properly
I agree wholeheartedly. By toning down the gameplay and design and putting a bigger focus on the beautiful and skillfully crafted art (in other words, going down the exact same path as everything else on the market right now), we can open up the genre to everybody while making its games feel not so outdated anymore. Video games should never be too video gamey.

Eh? Not sure I agree with you there, can you elaborate on that?

Hopefully nobody follows Treasure's example and decides not to take a steamy DRM shit on their PC ports.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

I wonder if petitions to release classics onto XBL/PSN would be effective. I mean it's practically just free "market research." Provided that, you know, enough people actually sign it.

Btw, I might be new here but best post ever!

Signatures don't equal sales, but sometimes vocal minorities can make things happen. (Prognosis doubtful)

Pretty much my thoughts as well. In my head everything works out splendidly though.

So going to happen. Although maybe for PS4 if Cave are sensible.
