Vietnam jails are known for being actual jails instead of what we have in the US. I know people who work their asses all day and are some of the best people you'll ever meet, yet still can't afford better living conditions than some of the prisons here.

People that do this to little kids shouldn't even be alive, and how the hell do you only go to jail for two months after "hardcore, disturbing," etc. images of small children are found in your possession? I hate these kinds of people so much it's unbelievable.

He should be executed on public tv with Jerry Lawler or Michael Buffer doing a running commentary of "Ladies and gentlemen what an asshole!" or something the entire time.

There is no such thing as a one time child molester. Talk to anybody in law enforcement. As to why sex criminals aren't exterminated , I don't know.

You know what would be an even greater deterrent to sexual offenders: castration. That's for the guys; for female offenders I guess there'd have to be a way to desensitize the "areas" of arousal so that zero pleasure is derived. That'll teach them. Perhaps that's something that could be effective in both sexes...

I have heard of some sex offenders being required to become impotent, either through drugs or operation...not sure how widespread the practice is though.

Where are these luxorious United States prisons? Because they sure as hell aren't in texas.

I don't know about niceties of Texas prisions, but I do know that Texas and Florida are on top, as far as most exectutions.

I don't know how great you can consider the living conditions in a place where you have to constantly be on the look out for getting your ass beat or raped.

Yup, I totally agree and have always championed this type of "more than an eye for an eye" justice. Just to appease the victim's family, they can have first dibs on performing the "operation." Women offenders can simply have clitorectomy, however few of them there are. And to pay for the inevitable holding, court, and miscellaneous costs and dissuade others, these operations can be shown on live TV for total embarrassment and a deadly warning to other sexual offenders. Yeah, it's really old-school but this idea works: just look at Singapore's crime rate.

However, in this particular case, I'm not sure who the bigger asshole is: the disgusting pedophile who can't control his hormones or the conniving girls who thought to take advantage of this situation by tattling to authority despite going on their free will to his apartment and having already been payed their agreed upon sum. To be honest, both parties make me sick.

I don't believe in the death penalty. I do think he should servce some serious time. Doesn't change the fact that the girls are (very likely) prostitutes, and will no doubt have sex with other men for money if they are.

Wow, all my morals must have been destroyed somewhere. In so many non-'first class' countries, children are essentially forced into prostitution at an early age (IE 12 or so). That doesn't mean UK gents should be buying tickets to go have sex with them--and clearly this guy has some issues--but the whole consensual thing (I know, the girl is 12; there are a lot of pregnant 12-14 year olds at the school I teach at) doesn't make me feel the guy needs to have his head or johnson whacked off.

Why not just a couple years of prison + couple years mandatory therapy?

Because - "Glitter was sentenced to four months in jail in Britain, but served only two, after admitting downloading more than 4,000 images of children, some as young as two, on his laptop computer. The pictures showed boys and girls being sexually abused, tortured, bound, gagged and blindfolded."

Spending time in prison didn't discourage him from traveling the world looking for kids to abuse.

What's really ridiculous is that the article says he was deported from Cambodia because of child abuse allegations. I wonder why the Combodians didn't grab him then.
