Mega Everdrive and Game Genie Codes

Hope I'm just being daft, but I'm not able to get Game Genie codes to affect any games using a Mega Everdrive. Tried several games and a few different code sources, but nothing takes.

You simply enter the code, go back and find the game and load it, right?

Ah, found an obscure instruction on Facebook of all places. You have to first select the game, then enter the code, then press start to run the game. Clear as mud.

I think what trap15 was trying to say is that this thread is not relevant to shmups, it should be in the Off-Topic section.

I guess it's just vague to me since the whole forum is called "shmups", so "shmups chat" didn't seem off topic, and I didn't see a better one when I initially looked, and I've read various non-shmup threads all over the place.

Anyhoo, I'd delete/move this thread if I could. But maybe good to have around for others who may be stuck where I was.
