So this is like a team based scoring contest/tournament?

Starting during the summer would be great.

Begin no sooner than the second week of May, but get it on before May ends.

Starting in May would be optimal. I missed out on the last one, and totally want to participate this time and make a team brimming with strongth.

i really don't understand why it took nine years to go from "pirating pc games is worse than pirating arcade games" to "pc games have strange requirements".

stgt needs pc and console, having separate tourneys is wrong. a lot of the issues with pc games are due to user decisions, and you can just mandate rr emulators for console games. also, we need more "old" games, and the games chosen should be very different from each other.
trap15 wrote:Nope. I don't play PC games anyways so I'd be a shitty picker for that.
just pick an older touhou.

Game list has been essentially finalized. Average and median year is 1993, standard deviation is ~3.5 years. I think this is actually a pretty decent list and I think everyone will enjoy it.

For those with school, when is your 'break' period? I know it starts at beginning of July, but when does it end? I'll be coming up with date ranges soon.

running the tourney in the week of July would be a mistake as most countries in europe are on vacation in that period. I remember STGT in 2011 I was stuck in a cabin in the middle of nowhere for the first week :(

Can't wait to see the game list 1989-1997 sounds great 8)

I already hate all the sound of this. :(

But seriously, thanks for going to the trouble to organise all this!

i kinda like the sound of that median, but i wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be a giant troll!

american schools tend to get out around very late may or very early june and go back sometime between mid-to-late august to very early september. basically, june to mid-august is your safe zone, about ten weeks give or take.

lol @ thinking standard deviation means "+/- the standard deviation limits"
for all we know the games are mostly tightly grouped by release date with just one far outlier...like B-Wings 8)

Hmm, did just realize that at least a few of Trap's favorite shmups are from right around 1993, although we have played some of them in past tournaments.

I don't really get a break until September (fucked up summer schedule this year; 50% the UC system changing summer dates randomly and 50% me having summer classes for two months).

So I take back what I said, start this whenever. :3

Nope, I don't think I have any games that have been played before in an STGT (though I honestly didn't look too hard; I avoided stuff I remembered playing for an STGT, but didn't actively check).
