They're mapped to the pedals. Acceleration is up, brake is down.

That seems like a HORRIBLE IDEA if I do say so myself. It reminds me of when I played Bomberman 64 with a steering wheel during multiplayer because I couldn't afford a 4th normal controller. It was as terrible as it sounds.

Recorded a full run (unfortunately cred fed) of Eebrozgi and Ebbo's final boss demo. Wanted to show off the second loop. I plan to 1cc-run the game once it's complete sometime.

I thought this clip was pretty cool. Check out Garegga and Pulstar... (you can skip to 3:05 if you're impatient)

Many thanks to Fudoh for drawing our attention to these screens. I recently picked up two of them but haven't gotten around to testing them out yet. I have to admit I can't wait to see Ketsui with super badass scanlines(!)

Ghegs : What an interesting experiment. It sure musn't be easy to control the ship this way, and the homing lasers are tricky to activate, but it can be fun.
It reminds me of a French player who tried to play DDP (on MAME) with the Guitar Hero accessory.

ratikal : Nice cover, I like it! :)

Beat Gradius IV last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpLecf04HAs

I'm pretty proud of this playthrough since I was able to recover on my final life at probably the hardest checkpoint in the game (beginning of the last fortress stage).

This didn't take me nearly as long as Gradius III did to beat but this game is a beast, and in some ways is even harder than III (Moai and Cell stage are unbelievably cheap in IV). At least there is no damn cube rush this time around.

WOW That Sony TV look pretty amazing. Must be pretty expensive and hard to buy from anywhere nowadays.

I uploaded a video playing through Galactic Attack on the Saturn, TATE(ed?). The run was okay up to a certain point, but then I began credit feeding so my viewers would at least be able to see through to the end of the game.

Man I suck. How many hours does it take to get decent at a shmup like that? Ugh.

Depends entirely on how you go about it. I played casually without much help from watching replays, using savestates, practice modes etc. It took me about 10 years to start regularly being able to clear games.

I can't say I've ever measured it in hours, but your time investment will be a lot shorter if you use every tool at your disposal, like chempop mentioned.

I've actually set aside a game that I only ever play full runs of, usually a credit a day.. I'm getting nowhere fast but its definitely more rewarding everytime I get a bit further than I have done before.

Once you get to that point you'll just look at even better replays and always wonder the same thing

Here's my 1CC video for Gradius 1, it's the PS1 port on the highest difficulty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P--DqHGCuF4

A lot harder than I would have thought, a death anywhere before the final checkpoint on the last level and it's all over. Took about 50 tries or so.
