TRP-STGT 2014 Pre-registration Discussion

Soooooo, I'm intending to run TRP-STGT in a month or so, but before I open signups, I want to know when works best for you.



Give me a preferred starting week within the next 3 months, and how many weeks you would like to see! Majority does not rule, but your requests will be noted and put into my Super Secret Opinion Creator to come up with a good start and end date.

This year we will be seeing the addition of TEAMS, consisting of no more and no less than 3 players. No-team entrants will be split into teams of 3 or 4 at my discretion; I will attempt to make good teams, but if you want to know who you're playing with, make your own team! The top 2 scores of each team will be counted.

There will almost certainly be bonus points awarded, the mechanic shall be kept secret until the STGT's start.

It would be great if most of it took place during July, which is when we have school breaks here. Something that began in late June/early July and ended in early August would be ideal.

Anything between 1 and 2 months(5 and 9 weeks, to make it an odd number) would be nice for a duration.

I'd like to say I'm making up for the missing STGT last year. I would have held this a lot sooner but there was the other tournament going on and I didn't want to have two going at once.

Sorry, arcade only. There are too many issues with getting doujins running on everyone's machines, and console/PC emulators are either shit or nobody wants to use the same one.

As the original organizer of the very first STGT I am supporting this. :p

Last year's STGT didn't happen because of the lack of an organizer. And if you want to organize a STGT-like event it makes sense to just call it the STGT. I guess this way you would also gather more players in one event. Because the name would make clear that this is the main event. Otherwise it sounds like the main STGT is happening later and a rivaling TRP-STGT is happening, splitting the players for 2 possible events. Just my 2 cents.

I dunno if I want to take responsibility for that I like to do things different from normal STGT which is why I use the alternate name. If dex gives the blessing, I guess I can change the name though.

That was my intent. I don't want to pick games that'll show poorly to those emulating (like people think Thunder Dragon 2's bullets are hard to see, because there was a bug in MAME for the longest time).
