NESRGB seems too high with the pin headers and socket...

Post by Deka »

Hi,

My NESRGB on a toaster seems like it is too high when I place it into the NES.
It now wobbles in there and I don't want to flex the board when I screw it in.

So, I have the pin headers on the NES board, then the socket placed in the headers, then the NESRGB board.

Can I just solder the socket directly to the board and lower the high a little bit?

What have you all done?
Can some one share a picture of it installed from the side so I can get an idea of the height yours has?

Thanks.

Did you socket the PPU? It won't fit if you socket both the NESRGB and PPU.

No, the PPU is soldered in the NESRGB.

OK,

I had to remove a socket and all is good now.

Another question.
Do you have the bottom RF shield on still?

I took all the shielding out of my front loader, which I haven't added the NESRGB to yet BTW.

I also created a switch for the lock out chip.
I can enable and disable it on the fly.

You can also put in S-Video too with Tim's kit.
I did that as well. Now I can do RGB and S-video.

I might Add a Component socket for kicks so I can pallet change it, but it's almost whats the point?

What does adding component output have to do with palette switching?

He said component socket, not component output.

Still doesn't make sense.

He said pallet...not palette. It makes sense if you read what's written.

:?: Say what now? No, it still doesn't make a lick of sense.

Component sockets:

Pallet:

And why would he put component sockets on this...for component output?? NESRGB doesn't put out a component signal, you'd have to install an extra encoder like a JROK.

I'm so confused.

Sounds like he wants to socket it to swap out boards (pallets). No idea what he wants to do, but that's what I gathered from reading it.

Ah I got it now. The vernacular tripped me up.
