I'm containing my excitement for now. From what I hear asada was asked recently on whether he would work on a new shmup, and his response was that he would be interested in doing so, but that it would be some time in the distant future. Also don't forget that Mages and their history of game development, does suggest that they heavily emphasise visual novels.

If it is a shmup... Then I will bring out the party hats and start break dancing in the middle of the streets. I will start knocking on people's doors and start shmup bashing pedestrians.

Visual Lolly Novel incoming from Asada!!! Also we don't know the platform yet but may be Xbox360 probably since the good relationship between Asada, 5PB and Microsoft.

Let's remember that Mages announced back in September that Asada joined them to work on an Xbox One game. Odds are decent that this is that game.

I don't know that that necessarily implies that it's Xbox One exclusive, but I think that the possibility is certainly out there.

The Xbox One is slated for a September launch in Japan. It seems plausible that Microsoft Japan wants an exclusive ready on or near the release day that will appeal to the Japanese audience.

That said, it will probably be another visual novel.

Literally everyone is rooting for asada. But look at things from his perspective. He's been making shooters all his life. I won't be too surprised if it's an Rpg even. He must be sick of shooters, especially after cave. Who he claimed over worked him to death. So overworked that they actually helped him shed pounds off his weight.

They should hire people with the disclaimer:
"You wanna lose weight? Work at cave."

If you're thinking it was Asada that contributed the magic pixie dust to some great games, you're incorrect.

Asada was the producer for the X360 ports and you could be grateful to him for convincing Cave to bring so many games to the Box. But he had nothing to do with game development. Even if this new game is a shooter it won't resemble to any Cave magic at all.

That's true, but given his unparalleled inside exposure to the way Cave games are meant to be made, what better person to have a stab at using that knowledge to make something new? Will probably turn out to be a non-shmup anyway, but still...

That's what I think. When someone works in a industry and his company produces quality products of a certain genre. There's no doubt he has acquired knowledge and skills that would make him more than likely to be a competent Dev. Not saying he will develop, but judging from interviews, it sounds like he really loved the genre and the games.

He wasn't exactly competent at directing ports, so I'd be surprised if he's competent at basically anything.
