E-cigarettes and Personal Vaporizers

Post by nasty_wolverine »

So I ordered a new e-cigarette today. The old one I had was crappy, didnt hold charge for more than an hour, half the carts that came with it didnt even produce vapor. Used it for 1-2 weeks, then chucked it went back to normal cigarettes.

The new one I think has a 510 3.7v battery, tankomizer(1.2ml capacity) with extra 10ml refill bottle. I think i can switch that for 510 compatible cartomizers, or atleast the cartomizers of the same brand. Its gonna arrive on thursday. But sadly, i learnt that eliquids that are made in india are shit, and to get quality stuff I have to import. Calculated the costs, still works out lesser than what i would spend on normal cigarettes.

Anyone else into ecigs and vapes?

I had a vaporizer for my assorted herbal blends, and that was pretty kickass. Minimal smell, got all the vapors, fit in my palm. Google for Magic Flight Launch Box ;)

I tried an e-cig once, absolutely hated it. Probably because it was a cheapo one, but I'd still rather just smoke a cigarette if I want one.

Thats the problem. the cheap ones are utter crap, the one i had was cheap can crap, tried a few from friends who also wanted to quit, cheap and crap. we all eventually went back to normal cigs.

Then, i tried one that my super boss recently got, was a bit expensive, good amount of vapour, nice taste (not like burnt rubber from the cheap ones), and it looked decent. He eventually went back on cigarettes, his fault really, the brand he got doesnt sell eliquids or carts with nicotine in it, and he doesnt know.

I used to smoke about 18-20 a day when i started, settled to about 10-12 a day. since I have been trying to quit for the past year, i have got it down to 5-6 a day, but cant get it lower. so gonna switch to quality ecigs and see if it helps.

I have a Green Smoke e-cig but I've all but stopped using it. I used it mostly for the mild stimulant effect more than to cut back smoking, since I haven't really smoked very much for years now. Definitely better than Blu, but if you want all kinds of weird flavors like bubble gum and shit then you're better off with something else. They're a good nicotine delivery system, but don't necessarily seem more or less effective than other smoking cessation products to me, mostly because it's easy to get fixated on how different they are than real cigarettes. I know a few people who have basically switched to them from cigarettes or just cut their cigarette consumption down to a few a day and use the e-cig the rest of the time, which is good, but I've also known a few people who tried them and just ended up smoking again because they didn't come close enough to what smoking is like. If you can get over the experiential difference then they seem to be a pretty decent way to cut back.
Feedback will set you free.

I don't have an e-cig vap, but I do have one of these. It's amazing, and I've tried most of the big name ones. Highly recommended for the discerning consumer of herbal materials. It smokes(ha) all of the other portables on the market, and is actually comparable to the larger desktop type home units in quality and temperature control. Plus, the design makes it soooo much easier to clean than most of the other portables on the market.

I've looked into the E-cigs, but the main issue I see is just about everybody I know who switched from actual cigarettes to these went from smoking 10-20 cigs a day to hitting the E-cig almost constantly because you can use them pretty much everywhere as they aren't regulated like smoking, here at least, so now they are even more hopelessly addicted.

Nicotine addiction is the least of concerns with smoking. Nicotine is proven to be no more harmful than caffeine when used in sensible doses (ie not taking a bath in 72mg/ml nicotine base). It's a damn sight better being a little more addicted to nicotine than it is to continue with tar. Don't mean to preach, just point out the difference.

I am a vaper and make my own mods.

Also, if you are looking for some starter kit, ditch the cigalikes and get yourself an itaste V3 or something similar. They work so much better.

I use drippers or RDAs for my juice, and it is pretty fun making coil builds and blowing some clouds.

I dont really wanna spend too much to start with. Maybe if i can sustain ecigs for a few months, i might look at investing more and getting a proper vape. The one i got is pretty cool when compared to the others i can get here. its got a tankomizer with 1.2ml capacity, but is is hooked up to a 510 battery so i am not gonna get much use in a single charge, well i am a light smoker so it doesnt matter that much. I plan to get better juice once the refill that comes with it expires or i dont like the taste much.

The worst thing is, the ones i can buy here are comparatively hiked to about 2-3 times what they cost in the US/UK. the major sites sell juices at 3 times the price what they are in the US/UK. shipping it would make it cost the same unless i order something like 20 at a time.

tbh, i am pretty exited about this, i ll post how it goes. this is the only reasonably priced kit i could find that is not a atomizer/caps or cartomizer model. since it is eliquid based, i am not bound to use the ones they sell and can source the eliquid from somewhere else. i am looking into some chinese sites for a better and cheaper source.

Do you have any skill with a soldering iron and a dremel?

If so, it is very easy to make a box mod for yourself following easily searchable schematics. Add in a few IMR batteries, a charger and a rebuildable atomiser of some sort, and all you will need from then on is wick and wire, and liquid.

Steep and expensive initial outlay, but good fun.

Sorry, my point was that they get the e-cig, go buck wild hitting the thing like a fiend, get tired of it and go back to cigs eventually, now they smoke one every 5 minutes to keep the nicotine levels up as high as when they were using the e-cig.

I'll stick with cigarettes for now, it's my retirement plan after all

Although, I rarely smoke weed anymore, pretty much switched to vaping full time other than the odd occasion I am with friends who don't like to vape.

And that makes more sense.

Like I said up thread, if I had had cigalikes, or similar, as my only device, I would never have stayed vaping. I found egos and clearomisers OK, and decent enough to stop me smoking on the spot, but the constant messing about with leaking cheapo tanks and inconsistent resistances on the pre built coils annoyed the crap out of me.

Got a more powerful mod or two and some drippers I could rebuild myself and I haven't looked back. I actually have dropped my nicotine level down considerably over the last 8 months and I now mostly use 8-10mg/ml fluid, and I use it like I would a ciggy, ie every couple of hours I have a little session and then put it down again. Stops me from going on it constantly.

actually quite a lot with soldering, i think i have been soldering PCB's (mostly tv's, cassette or dvd players, radio's) from the age of 12 or something. Dad used to run a part time electronic repair shop which i helped around in. not so much with a dremel. :(

So, I got the one I ordered.

good things:
- pretty neat, holds juice enough to last two days, the charge lasts me a whole day.
- the vape amount is pretty good, comparable to an actual cigarette.
- dont have to light an entire cigarette for a single puff.

bad things:
- as i said before, the juice quality sucks, i got one with good nicotine hit but bad flavour, the other with bad nicotine hit but good flavour, using a mix to balance it out.

Have been off cigarettes for two days now, lets see how long i can hold out. and will be ordering some good juice (dekang or hanseng) soon.

So I got one a week ago and it's working wonders on the old tobacco junkie me ('bout 20 a day).
This is a hundred times more efficient than nicotine patches, gums, etc.
Now fuck real cigs, really.

The model I got already seems to produce less vapor though, and the battery only lasts for a few hours.
I need a better model.
No issues with e-liquids where I live, there are plenty of shops selling a wide variety.
