STGWorldWide - International Shmup Day

Hey guys,

Frenetic from STGWeekly here. So I want to propose an STGWorldWide - an International Shmup Day where every shmup enthusiast takes a picture of their favorite shmup/or shmup they've just played. You guys can send the pictures to us at STGWeekly and we can put them in a collage of some sort on our Facebook/YouTube channel.

I'm also going to reach out to the French (shmup.com/TeamSuperPlayLive), German (triggerzone.de), and Japanese shmup websites (2ch?).

Let's all join hands and raise them up for shmups,

I thinking about a picture of computer monitor/tv screen with the shmup title on it. And uh after you do that, you play the shmup (or do it before?) heh

Ah, okay. That should be way easy. Then post the image here, or PM you, or something? Is there some other way to get images to you guys, if I want to try to promote this elsewhere on the internets (where people may or may not have a shmups forum account?
I feel like I'm probably overcomplicating this. >_>

Edit: also would you be interested in promoting this outside of the forums already mentioned? Not that there'd be that many takers or anything.

Oh no man, I don't think you're overthinking this. Actually what I want is more ideas about how to make it a "Shmup Day." Any suggestions for other message boards that would work?

I'm not sure about other ways to make it a shmup day, but I was mostly just thinking of posting a thread over at Dreamcast-talk forum. I know there's a few people who play shmups over there, who might be interested, and since at least some of those aren't very serious shmuppers, they might not have an account here, but still might be interested in this idea. IDK, just a thought. There's probably other forums that might have small numbers of casual shmup enthusiasts on them.

I think a day that promotes the genre is a great idea. I'm sure many indie shmup devs with a game to promote would get on board to give it some exposure.

Shmups meets all over the place on the same day might be nice too.

Easy thing to get rolling on Twitter too.

Someone talk to Cosmo at Stunfest and convince him to start streaming shmups. Or at least get in on the "day" - I think he's got plenty of viewers.

Worth noting that this year's AGDQ had a score run in it. Would be cool to see members of that community become interested in ours and maybe continue to have a small presence the done quick events (though I certainly wouldn't like to see those events lose the speed running focus).
