STG Weekly #73: Varth
Re: STG Weekly #54: Blue Wish Resurrection & BWR+
This was really last minute today, but I feel like it went really well and probably my best appearance on the show so far. I hope that people take a trip back to these two games since I feel like it has been a gravely underestimated shmup to play for score.

Re: STG Weekly #54: Blue Wish Resurrection & BWR+
And the episode is up on youtube! I know the short notice meant that a lot of people couldn't catch the live stream, so hopefully anyone who is interested can give it a look here. Any feedback on me as host would be greatly appreciated; I've been asked to fill in for Aquas for the next few weeks because he is away on business.

Re: STG Weekly #54: Blue Wish Resurrection & BWR+
No STG Weekly this weekend; taking a break. But STG Weekly's sister show Awesome Game Replays will be streaming a 2-ALL liveplay with commentary of Makaimura tomorrow at 12 noon PST. Check it out!
Next weekend: Psyvariar, if all goes as planned.

This is the best known replay for Psyvariar Revision, it is the world record and wrecks everything else, including what you can find on DVDs, there's no hints of it being TAS either.

For Psyvariar 2 the best non-TAS replay is this one:

Delicious buzz
Glad to hear it, are the XX replay stages worth mentioning? I can only seem to find videos for XXD on nico anyway.

Re: STG Weekly #54: Blue Wish Resurrection & BWR+
The way the XX stages work is: in Photon the bullet speed is always very slow, while in the other three the bullet speed constantly moves between slow and fast, this goes for both the main stage and the boss.50Hz wrote:Delicious buzz![]()

I made a video to showcase the Photon-X boss and how to deal with it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcCkZKHkEMo

That's pretty cool, thanks for clearing that up, I was confused about what exactly the differences wereciox wrote:The way the XX stages work is: in Photon the bullet speed is always very slow, while in the other three the bullet speed constantly moves between slow and fast, this goes for both the main stage and the boss.50Hz wrote:Delicious buzz![]()

Is that the WR? According to the hall of records thread it's 211 million, but that replay is 194.ciox wrote:This is the best known replay for Psyvariar Revision, it is the world record and wrecks everything else, including what you can find on DVDs, there's no hints of it being TAS either.

Oops, I thought I checked it with that thread but I must have misread something, it should still be the highest scoring replay that's been put online.Weak Boson wrote:Is that the WR? Wouldn't mind at all to see SWY's 211mil replay, especially since he already has a youtube channel (probably maintained by someone else going by the bio) with stuff like his official Medium Unit superplay. https://www.youtube.com/user/DCSWY/videos

Re: STG Weekly #55: Psyvariar Revision
Random fact:
I was interpreter for an interview with Yusemi-SWY which only got published in a French magazine and never in English, but in it he mentioned that his favorite shooter of all time was Psyvariar Revision.

We are holding the secret power of shmups.
Re: STG Weekly #55: Psyvariar Revision
That's great, it's my favorite too really, from what I recall he mentions Psyvariar quite often in interviews, like this is one, I can recall another interview that was relatively recent (much later than that 2001 one) where he mentioned still working on some new Revision strats, he's definitely a big fan of the game I just wish he'd put up some replays.adversity1 wrote:Random fact:

Makes me feel so posh for actually having the game, like, in flesh. Not many of those "slow bullets" shmups' online appearances do it for me.

Re: STG Weekly #55: Psyvariar Revision
Next weekend is more or less confirmed:
STG Weekly #56: Touhou Kaeidzuka ~ Phantasmagoria of Flower View
Guests: chum, zil
Still in the planning stages, so not sure exactly what content, but time permitting we want to show replays of the normal single-player "Story" mode, the Extra mode, and several competitive matches. Should air at the normal time.

Apparently there was a slight miscommunication about the timing... We will actually be ready to start within the next hour or so! Yay!
